I actually looked this up when the Relic rumors started. They do their third quarter earnings reporting in early February, their yearly earnings in May, and their first quarter earnings in August. Microsoft could definitely work with Sega to hit a window. April will be the next interesting month to watch (because they would have to disclose the deal in May). If it doesn't happen in April (likely at Inside Xbox, in my opinion), they could theoretically wait to announce the deal at E3 (to be reported to investors in August).

While they are definitely beholden to investors to announce selling an asset (like Relic) during an earning's report, I don't think they have any other requirements, like advanced notice or immediate notification if a deal is agreed upon.

I would love Relic to happen and I think it makes totally sense, but I literally only said it looks cool in the meme format.
MS needs a strategy studio and they will get one strategy studio. That’s more of an obvious observation than anything else.
