GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB - CoH2 lagging on low

Hi!

I have a question if this is some kind of bug, or does CoH2 is so badly optimized or has so huge requirements?

I'm playing on GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, i7-7700HQ, 16GB RAM with the resolution set to 1920x1080
and after auto-verification, it sets everything on the lowest + physics for high and textures for an ultra. However in 3v3 or more battles with artillery shooting etc. Games start to lag horribly and there is a message that my graphics settings are too high - I changed textures from ultra to high and physics to medium - it lags the same.

Is something wrong, any bug or those settings are really too high for my graphics card which seems funny when I look for recommended requirements:

Memory: 4GB RAM
Processor: 3Ghz Intel i5 quad-core or equivalent
Graphics: 1024 MB Direct3D 11 capable video card (GeForce GTX 470 or Radeon HD 5850)
OS: 64bit Windows 7 and above
Internet: Broadband Internet connection
Hard Drive: 30GB free Hard disc space

Shall I change the resolution to lower? Any ideas?

EDIT: I'm playing on laptop so my GTX is little weaker than on PC.

Try setting everything highest except AA (medium). I think wierdly some setting when low run worse. Otherwise it shouldn't have a problem with this

The only setting you need to set low with that setup is antialiasing. First try to disable it all together and see if that works. Then you can try to increase it, but all in all if you want both antialiasing and performance it is best to disable in game and enable it in your GPU settings for the coh2 application. That way you get the optimised algorithm from nvidia.

So I shall use Nvidia GeForce Experience to for e.g. set Integrated Intel Graphic then set it back to Nvidia for CoH2 :)
I'm playing on the laptop - so maybe my GPU is lower but I don't think so low to lag on almost lowest settings. Also maybe 1920x1080 makes performance lower. Howerver this resolution is default for my laptop and my screen.

I'll try it now :)

EDIT: I've tried it - the game was lagging from the very beginning then - I forgot to add that I'm using the laptop version of GTX 1050 Ti 4GB - so maybe it too weak?

A laptop? hmm. I would definitely take ferwiners advice and drop AA altogether. On medium its quite bad and on high crushes performance.

COH2 is badly optimised but for many people the 6 years since its release have eclipsed this problem with the increase in power of their computers.

Your laptop gpu even though its an Nvidia chip may still struggle with it I guess

Also remember to make sure that you are actually running nvidia gpu when running the game and not the intel integrated one. Most laptops can switch between the 2 and the one from intel obviously has much weaker performance, definitely not suited for coh2.

I agree with turning off AA. It is the only thing that slows my 1060 down. I will go from 60fps to 30fps just from smoke, fire, explosion textures being anti-aliased.

I have the slower 3GB 1060 which should be close to your 4GB 1050ti. I am on PC however. Even with my i7 and 1060, fps will drop as the game drags on. Start at 60fps and may end around 22fps in a crazy 4v4. Heavy lags for me usually come from internet traffic so you could try a hardline connection if the video stuff doesnt help.

I would lower texture detail by a lot. 4GB isn't a lot of vram - which AA also uses.
