M2 HMG .50 Cal

I notice this MG is locked behind the LT tech tree and that it is significantly more expensive than the HMG42. So, question: what am I getting out of this unit that makes it better than the HMG42 since it's 1 more on the pop count and 20 MP more than its Wehrmacht counterpart? Anyone? Anyone?

You also forgot to mention it has ap rounds wich i would argue are better then the mg42, because of the fact that u have no viusal of the ap rounds being on apart from the reload animation.

The ability to build it in the first place.
Comparing the .50 cal and the MG42 directly doesn't work because they're not in the same faction: you'd never have to choose between them.
Units are priced relative to other units in the same faction, with the goal being build diversity.
If you want to compare USF and OST, you need to compare them as a whole. Individual unit comparisons break down because their circumstances aren't the same. A .50 cal fights different factions, comes out at a different timing and has different units supporting it.

The AP damage from the .50 cal isn't important because you do not buy MGs to fight vehicles but to supress blobs. Besides the AP ammo on the vetted MG42s is superior, it can kill almost any light vehicle in a single burst. So the MG42s has better anti-infantry, and better AP rounds, I cannot think of a single thing the .50 does better than the MG42 that actually matters yet its significantly more expenisve. I'm not sure why anyone would build this unit or why it should cost what it does. Its hard to say which 280 MP and 7 pop is more worthless, this or the cost for Riflemen.

Yeah, it's not an optimal deal, and getting it from tier0 the way OKW does after an initial tech up would be cool, but something something fair and balance.
It is a very good MG tho, 2nd best of the stock HMGs IMO, and by a relatively wide margin.

So here is the deal then. There is nothing wrong with Wehrmacht having a better MG than the .50 cal, there is even nothing wrong with the MG being in the LT tier. There is something wrong with a clearly inferior unit costing more and taking up more pop. This is the kind of crap with these balance patches that make no sense at all.

Again, they're not priced on the same rules. The HMG42 is priced relative to other Ostheer units, the .50 cal is priced relative to other USF units. The two factions have different teching structures.
If you're comparing OST to USF, you need to compare the whole faction.

Name 1, just 1 Ostheer unit that is inferior to its Allied counterpart and yet more expensive.
Besides, USF as a faction is a complete mess compared to OSTheer. This may have something to do with the fact they have inferior units that cost more.

LOL! Nope, Panzer 4 will 1v1 a Sherman M4A3 pretty easily and its shot is effective against both infantry and armor without having to manually switch between two different shots making it more versitile. It also enjoys better armor upgrades when vetted.

HE sherman has better scatter, AoE on HE, pen cap, and versatility. The P4 is more expensive and has.... better armor...

With such low penetration that cannot penetrate a luchs.
It would be ok if it was an anti-infantry tank, but it's not. Sherman just got good anti infantry ability and low armor and penetration. Also it takes 6 sec to change between AT and AI and p4 can do both without switching, lol.

just about the 50cal, i don't want them to lie and shoot. That silly action makes it slow to shoot, whereas mg42 shooters just sit and shoot.

Except that's not what an MG is for. If you think about it, every single unit in the LT teir is over priced and does not preform for it's cost except the LT unit itself which you get for free.
