Anyone got any good advice for countering garrisons as USF without doctrinal flamers? The mortar seems to be the obvious solution but it doesn't seem that effective at damaging garrisoned squads. Both OKW and Ostheer have non-doctrinal flame weapons so if they want a house it's not too hard for them to get into it. And once they're in it's a pain to get them back out.

as shadowlink said, mortar. Grenades are option too but they will cost you lots of munitions in the end.

Just a correction, OKW has not non-doc flame weapons.

I think he's referring to the incendiary grenades

Mortar smoke, dumb as it is but you know USF is a special snowflake that shouldn't be able to force off garrisoned units.

So Mortar smoke so the garrison is useless at firing at you, you can cap back your territory safely.

Yeah, you are right. He could be referring to them.

You can also use the Mortar HT as another doctrinal solution - Vet 0 White Phos. is more effective at quickly forcing out garrisoned squads than regular barrages and the 80 range is a lot less micro intensive.

Rifle Commander also has Rear Echelon Troops with Flamers though that commits you to a doctrine. Somewhat worth it on garrison-heavy maps. Assault Engineers can also upgrade to flamers. You can't get around using a doctrine for a quick clear but USF mortar is good and almost always necessary for smoke anyways to beat MG's so it's not too big a deal.

Pak Howitzer also gets White Phosphorous rounds as well with some vet but that's mid-game.

Mortars, flamethrower Rear Echelons and Assault Engineers, Bulldozer Sherman, and as a final solution, M20, or Mechanized Company's WC51 cars with a squad in it. You can also just get close, encirle the building and fire. Just make sure to take cover. It works
