Like really guys, every thread I look at right now is being pested by various trolls, smurfs, fanboys and so on.

I think most of us want a civilised discussion among most of the balance problems to make the game better, more entertaining and generaly funnier to play.

The forums are for suggesting a good resolution on how to fix the problem. Why always someone has to ruin it and destroy to whole discussion and turn it into personal offense between 2+ members ?

I think moderators shouldnt be so gentle to trolls, because trolls decrease the intelligence value of those threads and force those who want to discuss balance problems to either stick to personal messages with a minority or move away all together.

What do you think ?

PS: A simple meme that adresses the problem

It would be worth considering temporary bans for repeat offenders, who are virtually trolls.

It is painfully tiresome to see Axis and Ally fanboys refusing to settle for anything less than their factions being as OP as possible.
There is almost no objectivity, or even compromise, in the majority of posts.

I'm really excited by the chance to get so many commanders improved, but I'm very aware that once the changes are announced it will unleash a huge wave of whining on the forums - from both sides - for the nerfing of the opposite factions' commanders.

On the plus side I can't see the commanders getting any worse than they currently are.

Exactly. You cannot politely discuss all those new changes that will come when you get 10+ notifications after each of your posts because some fanboys do not agree with you only because you suggest to nerf something (even though it is objectively OP) or buff something (even though it is objectively UP).

Sooner or later everyone will go down to their levels because none of us has godlike patience to always thoughtfully reply to each notification you get. It is even worse when you know that 90% of your post will be completely ignored and the fanboy will just pick a single sentence which offended him.

Like really, why should we keep people like them on the forums ? Because we believe in resocialisation or something ? I do not believe in that.

When someone has 95% of posts stupid sh*tposts and 5% of his posts make sence what is the chance that he will ever improve ? He only roams around here, annoys everyone and gives mods a headache. Mods have to invis his trollposts and then they cannot focus at keeping all solid discussions going.

Its a shame. I think that moderators should be less patient toward obvious trolls.

It's currently against site rules to intentionally troll or derail threads Hector. Being a fanboy isn't bannable, intentionally derailing is. It's up to the mods to enforce it though, as well as to decide who is just being a fanboy or if they're intentionally derailing.

Right, I think the key here is that Hector is asking them to be stricter in enforcing this rule. I do not believe that being a fanboy for any faction should be bannable (and it isnt as things are anyway). In my opinion though, blatantly ignoring facts (which hinders actual discussion) or acting disrespectful/toxic because of this fanboying should at least incur some kind of warning or suspension if sufficiently severe or consistent.

It might look ironic to you when I create thread like this but do remember that even though I am remembered for my bad behaviour by most of you, I have always also posted serious content, helped with playtesting or in the state office.

Right now we have some individuals that
A) do not even play the game, claim everywhere how the game is sh*t yet they pest the forums (guess why)
B) have miserable player cards yet they often do not hesitate to deflamate even community well known members when they run out of sh*tguments.
C) Intentionally or not, they derail thread on daily basis and everywhere they show up the thread ends derailed in mere of hours because no one takes them seriously and it turns into automatic sh*tposting

I'm not going to name anyone, I think you know best who are those guys.

I don't want to ban them for sake of banning. But I have already seen how many good, rather smart, players can quickly turn from serious mode into sh*tposting one when they are continually annoyed by trolls. I want them to be more serverely punished for intentional derailing because otherwise we have Monthy Python's Flying Cirkus ( a very bad variation) instead of serious threads in balance forums.

I think that many players want to discuss different topics (including myself) but when they look forward they rather not even post because know it will all end in the same sewer anyway :D

I understand that the mods were more gentle before DBP preview came out, maily because we had 2 and half members online per day and banning anyone would only create a wave of hate towards mods back then.

But now everything is different, balance patch is coming and balance discussions need to be maintained. I think no one will blame mods when they will severely punish anyone for derailing the thread until the patch period ends so we can maintain serious balance discussions and push the game into better place. And this is not possible when majority of best players refuse to and do their opinions cause they know that it will be turned into the same .... anyway.

Everything can return to current mode once patching is over but right now I think mods need to be very strick in order to keep serious discussions going.

We need serious discussions as without them Smith doesn't know what the community things and he can't get more ideas from the community that may improve the game (good luck browsing through 30 sh*tposts just to find one relevant thought in the patch balance thread :))

Stricter enforcement is always something I wanted here, the tolerance for blatant fanboyism and trolling is too high and leads to pointless discussion and derailning.

Half the stuff that's considered normal here is an instant ban on the paradox forums :/

But I don't think it will happen, so instead I request a simply agree/disagree system for posts.

It will let the trolls know how the community thinks of them and thus act as a deterrent (hopefully).

Don't ban people.

Simply invisi posts that fail to contribute to thread. People will either lift their game and contribute or leave.

I know everytime a post of mine is invisied i reconsider what i write in future posts.

And who decides who is fanboy? Hector claimed me as one of them when I wrote something like 'zu fuss doesn't deserve nerf because firing from it is harder then dodge its rockets'. One fanboys will ban another fanboys, that is how it will be.

You are right. I am against very strick mods (also known as "nazimods") that ban anyone after even the slightest breach of rules.

On the other hand when someone derails 3 threads in a single day and 10 of his posts are invised maybe it would be better to ban him for the duration of December Balance Patch Preview so
A) Mods have to worry less about him and can focus on keeping the threads going
B) Other players do not have to worry that he will ruin the next thread they create.

Once again, I am not for banning everyone for anything. I am for banning people that refuse to get used to site rules by casually breaking balance forum rules by derailing, between user intereference of deflamation and generally by trolling. Why should we allow anyone to influe direction of DBP when he failed to create solid content X times in row and always way a bur for the others who wanted to keep the thread going and find some compromise about single (or multiple) game features.

I agree that I did not write my first post completely fine because it is impossible to box and then ban the fanboy at first.

On the other hand, banning derailers shouldn´t be hard at all. It is not hard to realise who is trying to post logical arguments and who is derailing the thread into something else.

Also when someone is having his own word and argues with literaly anyone because he has completely different point of view (eg. UKF fanboy type of person) then he should be shot down without hesitation.

People who call others fanboys or try to deflamate them in any other way should get a warning at first too and if they do not amend their behavior they should be removed from balance discussion as well because they only create balast, not actual logical balance arguments.

You are right in this that I wasn´t the serious guy in the past but there is one thing that differenciates me from common troll.

I have troll AND ALSO posted serious content. I helped in the state office, created guides or was able to post solid balance arguments. It was 50:50 with me, one day trolling hard, another being serious.

But there are people who do not have serious content at all (or only few of their posts can be cathegorised as serious), yet they spam countless posts and derail threads. They deserve a timeban.

I do not say that everyone who derails a thread or doesnt bring logical arguments to the thread should be permabanned. What I am trying to say is that people who derail the threads or troll in them, provoke others to start flamewars and fail to amend their behaviour should be banned for the duration of Balance Patch Preview so the serious part of the community can maintain serious discussions. Afterwards they will be freed.

Do not take this as I want to ban them for sake of banning people. I want to eliminate common trolls from balance discussions for the duration of important balance events so the serious, intelligent part of the community can keep normal balance discussions and improve the game into a better state.

Yes, it is hard to divide fanboy from serious poster and hence thats why I dont want to ban them until they overspam the thread with their blantant posts. If they spend their time to create solid arugemts (even with a bit of bias) they should be taken into account as well, because sometimes even they are true. But they should be taken into account with a reserve when balancing the game.

Im 100% behind this.

Or make a section, where only modders and strategists(and maybe other group of people), and other people that got special invite, that can talk about balance, with very strict rules.

So when i got spare time, i can come and read serious stuff, not 95% of posts that doesnt bring anything to get a better game.

To add something for those who fear that moderators can abuse their powers if we allow them to via this poll.

A) it is solely up to them if they abuse their rights or not. The admins one the side and can do whatever they want to with it. If they haven't abused their peers to their good why would they now

B) I had many engagements with admins and moderators during my time here. And yes I was warned many times or even time banned for some time of being. But when I look at it now, with a clear mind I must agree that they were never overreacting and they only used their powers when they had to, to stop my erratic behaviour.

Back them it felt biased from their side to me but now when I look at it with a clear min I must agree that it was my error in the first place. If I didn't seek attention everywhere and used the forum what it is intended for, I would never be "harmed" in a first place (after countless warnings).

So those who fear really shouldn't because anyone with a bit of sane mind and will to help the balance team won't be affected by all. Only notorious trolls will be locked down, not those who make a funny offtopic post from time to time ;)

I'm with you hector. Just watch out not to get banned someday :P

Btw. I have a technical question: If somebody gets a permaban, are his poll votes still counted in the results that are visible to other members? If so, I would consider that a bug.
