I find the exclusion of off map SPECIAL infantry for the German Army quite odd. Soviets get guards and shock troops (also known as Brit commandos imo), yet zee germans get nothing. I would love to see an elite German squad trot onto the map someday. Does anyone know why the didn't include "special" German infantry call ins? o_O

I guess Fallschirmsjaegers or the Gebirgsjägers would make a good call-in unit. Gebirgsjäger could be a nice little commander tie-in with some map releases they do in the future, if it's set in the mountain regions.

Their actual role/utility/cost/performance etc, is all speculative, but there are definately still stuff that could be expaned upon, in terms of sheer content. :-)

nope, they can't don anything anti vehicle which Guards can do,
2 X conscript with bulletins won't do less than a single shock squad.
high armor value provides no protection against explosives, and high reinforcement costs as well as 480MP for call-in makes it the most expensive units in game....while survive chance against mortar fire and vehicles are equally the same as a conscript squad.

most importantly, without guard troops, soviet lacks the most effective anti-tank infantry in the game, Guard is also desperately needed...

How about Gebirgsjäger, or mountain infantry? Usually trained for mountain passes and extreme cold, these specialized units could be immune to deep snow, could camo, do not suffer cold, or do not suffer vision penalties under blizzard conditions.

Instead of Opel trucks they get mules.

First off, I wasnt talking about Shock's ability against tanks. Guards get shredded by PG, so if your opponent is pushing more armor go guards and conscripts at nades. If hes going more inf, go shock troops/ su 85 and keep them alive with micro. 480 is a steep price, ill agree with that. Maybe shocks aren't meant to be AT...kind of like British Commandos in CohV.

That could be awesome. Ive often thought about a command ability for both sides where you can outfit your troops with winter uniforms making them last longer away from shelter or fire...

I think the reality is that the German faction is missing some good choices and alternatives over Pgrens and grens. Yea, you can get ostrup squads but its doctrinal and per situation. More units to diversify tactics is probably not just what the community desires but probably what COH2 needs to last.

Yes this.

Paratroop drop anywhere there's LOS, booby trap houses, camo upgrade regardless of doc, FG42 upgrade...... would be amazing. (still 4-man squad).
