No you are not bad. You are actually great because you want to improve. There is nothing stronger than power of will if you want to learn. Believe me, 1-2 months and you can be in top 500-200 without problems

Just to add something to what Hector said: the level you can see in game means nothing. It's only roughly an indicator of time spent in game, but it can be very false depending on what type of games somebody plays. It is also obviously low if you create a new account, for example with family share, or you are new to the game but possibly a veteran of other RTS games, especially ones like CoH1 or DoW.

There are guys who end up in top 100 right after placement matches and there are others who get to max level just by compstomping.

Dont worry the guy you played with is a "smurf" a smurf is someone who is too insecure/scared to play on his main account.

His playstyle and game knowledge is to good for someone with only 7 games played.

Your game:

Why dont you start with building a MG42?

Try to use greencover more, you are engaging penals in the house in yellow/no cover and it takes you mutiple grensquads with mutiple retreats to dislodge that penal in the house, you should defend that house from the start.

*note the redline at the victory point that is a perfect place to build a sandbag with your pioneer since the green cover will only face the enemy.

Try to avoid your squads standing on redcover, now your gren could lose to a engineer wich it otherwise would have won.

Please keep in mind that flames do additional damage units in greencover/garisons so always resposistion your units out of greencover if you encounter flames

At 7minute mark you lost 2 grensquads in 30 seconds wich could have been easily avoided.

At 7minute you can see the "Armor piercing round" icon being active on the DHSK in the church so you should have kept your 222 away and almost instantly lost it.

At 9 min mark you lost basiclly all your army and called in a Mortar HT, you could have predicted there would be a T70 soon since you heard the planes dropping fuel for your opponent so a Puma would have been a better option but with these many casulties I doubt it would have helped.

Basically you got some slobby losses and couldnt recover for that point on but everyone had those when he just started playing the game, just keep playing and eventually you will improve.

Goodluck!

Oh well .. i knew it's not a new player :D .. and everything you said Obersoldat is truth and i know it. But for some reason i just can't implement it into the actual gameplay. Sometimes, when i'm watching my replay, i'm feeling like the game was played by a whole different person. It seems, that i am not able to manage more combat areas at once, while maintaining a good strategic overview of the battle (managing resources, teching up, upgrading and microing ...) .. simply put - i am being overwhelmed

Hector i really doubt it, that i will be in top 500 players after placement matches. Today i had a really though match with a guy ranked around 1900. So maybe i get into 2000 :D

You won´t be. But after more games played you will made it there. Believe me, 2 years back I knew nothing about this game and only know it from coh1 camaign and comp stomp and look where I am. I did not even ever watched my replays, I just learned by playing playing playing.

Do not worry if you feel that you cannot handle game, I feel the same sometimes, It will get better. Just always try to keep clear mind and don´t get angry when something bad happen, there is still possibility to turn the fight in your level of play. Just stay clear and do your best.

Obersoldat your advices are really good. Keep up the good work, help players and maybe one day you will wake up with green badge of strategist shining at your chest ;)

bind middle mousle button to mini map and voila. you can keep an eye on every combat happening and retreat your troops before it's too late.

use autohotkey to bind keys because relic never added the option in game #LelicThings.

I'm sure you will get easily in top500 with this 'pro' tip, and a few weeks later in top 100. then you will realize how great is the balance in coh 2 and switch to another better and more competitiv game.

I was trying to do that based on a tip by Stormless or HelpingHans, but it's not working. Maybe i should give it another try. Thanks for pointing it out.

An alternative is to keep an eye on unit badges in the top-right corner.

I was trying to use X-mouse button control but it doesn't want to work on my PC. Is this what you suggest? - http://ahkscript.org/

Yeah, i'm still trying to utilize that

Rank doesnt mean anything, just find some hight lvl player and practice with him, and watch replays, as much as possible. I recommend replays of jove and luvnest, they are most universal players, they can use any strat as any faction.

Ok thanks for the advice, i'll look for their replays.

One thing that came to my mind is, how you scroll the map without using middle mous button and arrow keys? I see HelpingHans doing it all the time, but i really don't think that he is using arrow keys

You can look around the map just by moving the mouse to the edge of the screen, or by left clicking on the mini-map in the bottom left of the screen to move the camera to that point in the map.

Just FYI - you don't need fancy camera scripts to be a good player. There are plenty of very high level players who don't use any scripts, or even the tactical map (DevM, Aimstrong).

If using the scripts is actually useful and feels natural and comfortable I'd suggest it. But don't force yourself to do it just because someone else does.

It's real. Even some pro players don't care about it. Actually, sometimes Tactical map makes some players worse.
So just try to use it first. And if you think that it can make you better, use it. But if not, don't use it.
You don't have to care about it. Just try it first. Because nobody knows that it can make you better.
But you don't have to try hard to use it.

For example I cannot play USA well without tectical map because I of flanks but I can play UKF or OST without tactical map without problems. Just do what you find most familiar with, there isn´t any real rule what you should do to be better in terms of scripting except maybe GRID KEYS, they are gold
