When you click on a thread that you have already viewed it jumps to the last post in the thread you viewed or the first new one?

Depends on where you click on the index entry.
If there are new posts, you will see a green number and a green arrow under "new". If you click anywhere in that box (it hovers with a green color), the site will take you to the first new post in that topic.
If you click on the "last post" column (it will hover blue), the site will take you to the last post.
If you click anywhere else on the index entry (other than usernames), the site will take you to the first post.
