Hi guys! Next year is coming and with it the new DOW 3. franchise like DOW3 and the fact that a game mechanic used in realistic games dow 2 and coh made me imagine the possibility of the emergence of a coh3 set in modern era . What would find it a novelty that? Would he score the COH series into the modern era or she should continue with the theme of the second world war only with better graphicos and mechanical ? Let your opinions !

I've actually cooked up Modern Factions for implementation in a mod or something like that, but I feel that Company of Heroes should stick to its World War II theme.

the problem with modern warfare would be the lethality... a tank hitting the battlefield would be a big fuckin deal. i think the best way around this would be to have different game modes... one that focuses on infantry and light vehicles and another that focuses on mechanized warfare... but yeah, the whole grenadier standing in the open to fire a panzerfaust while a tank shoots with no effect thing wouldn't be plausible at all in a modern environment.

Maps need to be way bigger though. Javelin has less range than WW2 era ATG makes no sense.

I could be interested.

Ain't modern tanks basically made of adamantium compared to anything a single person could hold these days? Truly, AT blobs killing them would incite endless rage.

Tanks in COH are already much less powerful than they actually were.

Or any weapon in the game for that matter, both range and damage are seriously unrealistic even for WW2 setting.

Actually the effective range of javelin is 2km so it's pretty much the same as the one of WW2 at gun. Depending on the size and armour of target it can be more or less ofc.

WW2 record is pak43 destroying t-34 from over 4km.

So is ATG too, it's not like there is HP bar IRL. I would prefer future COH to have detailed modules damage instead of HP bar like MoW.
