The only thing that will protect you adequately from the deadly reign of STG44s is a fighting position. Because the cover type is different than other garrisons, it actually does not get negated.

?

the fighting position uses the same cover type as normal garrisons.

which uses the same target table as green cover, at least for the IR STG?

IR STG all the way.

Does not negate cover. Does in the ballpark of open damage against light cover and does in the ballpark of light cover damage against heavy cover and garrisons, and finally heavy cover damage against trenches. Hard countered by PPSH cons for some reason in my experience.

Not exactly. But it's also not precise saying it just negates cover.

Light/Heavy cover gives 0.5 accuracy bonus, and garrison 0.55. STG acc modifier is set at 0.9. Damage modifiers remain.

IIRC they also grant +25 camo detection.

Really? I thought it used bunker type. Sorry for the mistake.

If you multiply the received accuracy by the reduced damage you get the following numbers:

Cover TypeNormal weapon DPS percentSTG44 DPS percent
Negative156%156%
Light50%90%
Heavy25%45%
Garrison27.5%45%
Trench6%20%

Notice the trend for the STG44 to equate to a damage amount one rung better than normal weapons (except for negative)

I prefer the LMG on open maps and STGs for more urban/CQ maps.

everybody makes mistakes.

also I dont mean to be annoying but the "trench" cover type isnt used in the regular game, the ostheer trench is heavy cover and the british trench is regular garrison cover
