While the game is in a better overall balance state than it has ever been, and the new balance patch is making it even better, there are a few minor changes that I feel could further improve it. These are:
- Make UKF and USF minesweepers occupy a weaponslot.
Reasoning: Mines are a fundamental mechanic in CoH2 that can win games. For Sovs, Wehr and OKW, investing in more than 1 or 2 sweeper squad puts quite a dent into your armies overall combat efficiency. Pioneers and Combat Engineers are cheap but have no real combat value when armed with sweepers. Sturmpioneers suffer less, but their veterancy scaling is poor and their value as a combat unit decreases a lot from the midgame onwards. UKF and USF on the other hand can achieve mid- to lategame 'immunity' to mines without sacrificing combat efficiency due to the weapon racks system. Royal engineers and rear echelon troops can be transformed into very cost efficient AT squads and getting 3 of these squads is a very good investment. Considering that these units can still sweep mines, it makes laying mines pointless for the opponent. There has to be some form of choice made with these units: either you give your cheap and low supply squads 2 extra weapons to make them good combat troops but can't sweep mines, or you can get them a sweeper and only 1 extra weapon to provide some mild supporting fire.
- Make Wehrmacht medkits heal squads to full health.
Reasoning: This one should be obvious. You are paying 20 ammo for a vet ability that requires two squads to work, but it only heals like 40hp. There really is no reason for a vet ability that is used by so many units to be this bad.

Imo the utility of the upgunned engineer type units is simply too much and thing are going to be worse when SP get shrecks. SO I have suggested this that could apply to other engineer also:

PS to S.P. is bad for the same reason weapon upgrades to R.E. and RO.E are bad. Engineer type unit have to much utility and should not replace mainline infantry. In addition with the high veterancy they can repair tank too fast allowing them to return in the field too fast...Imo SP should be redesigned if this is to work.
**Suggestions:**
1) Replace 2 STG with 2 K98 and decrease price to 280. This change aim to lower the AI of the unit so that is it can not perform all the roles.
2) Remove the ability to repair from the unit or greatly decrease repair speed, but keep building options and allow them to cut wire, since it still a engineer type unit. This change aim at reducing the utility of the unit. Change vet 2 vet bonuses and vet 5 vet bonuses with combat stat.
3) Offer 2 stock upgrade (minesweepers, PS) and 1 doctrinal (flamer) that are mutually exclusive and replace 1 of the ST 44. Minesweepers now allow SP to repair, adds the live veterancy bonuses and give a small amount of experience when the unit repairs. This change aim at creating to 2 different paths for SP either the role of a fighting unit with a weapon upgrade or the role of repair unit.
Without these change SP will simply have too much utility and will be spammed.

That was simply because I copied and pasted from the official forum. My point here is that being able to upgun engineer type units makes them have too much utility. Engineers with LMG and AT weapons can replace mainline infantry and in addition repair vehicles too fast with the vet bonuses.
Having 2 separated paths for engineers, either a fighting unit or a repair unit would fix the problem.
