Rangers: Thompons or BARs?

Without considering the cost of weapons upgrade, which is more effective (in vacuum, so to say)?

thompsons make your rangers really good at one thing, bars make your rangers kinda meh at everything.

There is no reason to get bars on Rangers. You get rangers to be a close combat powerhouse, not another fancy 5 man rifle squad.

you have vet 3 rifleman no need to go for rangers imo..but i think rangers have 4 weapon slots so 4xbar would be better than thompson imo....also they are not as good as power house close range as shocks but axis dont have any lethal close range counter so yeah thompson maybe then

Anybody ever try 4x zooks on Ranger, or team up with Brit and 4x Vickers?

x4 bars.. is like 240 munitions just on 1 squad.

They have 3 slots. 2 thompsons take up one slot, and they get 4 of them, which fills up two of their three slots.

Thompsons give Rangers a lot more wiping power (plus you can still equip one BAR). IMO the slighter higher Medium range damage with multiple BARs doesn't outweigh Thompsons. Plus Thompsons + 1 BAR is cheaper.
