Hey .org, While I understand that I'm breaking some of Cookiez's "do not do" rules, I'd like someone to take a look at this replay:

I ended up winning after 48 minutes and I never felt in trouble, but I remember looking at the length of the match at 35 minutes and just thought, "how am I not done yet?"

I feel like my early game was a bit clunky, although I'm trying to play a more aggressive ostheer rather than sitting back and holding a corner of the map waiting to get shit on by AECs or Cromwells.

I think the major errors that prolonged the game started when I pushed into my opponent's base with my infantry. There wasn't much of a point to it other than harassing him. After that, I lost my sniper due to overconfidence. My first push on the bofors nearly ended in disaster for my Stug and all of my grenadiers were killed by the Bofors.

I maintained map control throughout most of the game but I had trouble dealing with his Bofors at mid. I feel like I wasn't committing enough at any one point to destroy it and felt disheartened when all 3 of my grens were killed in my first attempt :foreveralone:

I could've harassed more on the left side, I think, but after I lost my Stug I didn't want to overly commit to the left considering how effective the crocodile would be against a PaK and some grens.

In short, I outplayed my opponent, but made some mistakes that made the game a lot longer than it should have been. How could my early game be better? Is there a strict capping order that I should follow?

Because its Langres :snfPeter:

I understand wanting to play aggressively, and I totally agree with your notion that you dont want to get shat on by the RuleBritannia flotilla, but theres a difference between doing that and forgetting/neglecting to cap your own fuel etc.

Try to formulate some sort of squad/system to where you can cap your own stuff, while being aggressive at the same time.
as Ostheer, theres 100 ways to do this; second pio, assgren and then let the starting pios backcap, ostruppen while letting the pios backcap, etc.

If it was me I probably wouldve went T4 with panthers and then an LEFH if you knew you were in control. caches galore as well. Other than the stug vs cromwell spamming, I think ostheer T3 is utter garb vs brit armor. Even the stug goes down p r e t t y quick to a 6pdr wall.(which you saw)

Probably, but like I said just above, maybe the simple lack of arty is what held you back slightly?
To even have a slight chance at killing his mortar pit, which was just so affectionately buried in his base, you needed an LEFH.

So the game was going good up until the bofors. You had him cut off for a little bit, and had the tripple cap going and bled him down really far. Then the bofors came up. At this point your infantry play has been pretty even with his, you both lost a sniper and had kept the rest of your squads alive.

That early push on the bofors set you back miles, otherwise you had this in the bag. Losing all your vet grenadiers put you at a huge disadvantage, the only thing you had going for you was vp lead at this point, and the fact that he was waiting for the croc instead of going for mediums. Stug was a bad choice. You should have gone for a mortar and waited out for t4 at this point. You aren't going to do anything with just infantry and vehicles against a bofors and multiple at guns, you needed something to force the brace or clear out the AT.

Late into the game you had done nothing to seal the deal, bofors still up. No point fighting over the central VP if you aren't going to kill the bofors. If you decap it he can just come right back and take it, there is no way to hold that. He was down to less than 100 tickets, holding 2 vps would give yu victory in 5 minutes. Should have switched to the other VP that was less defended, and held there. All he had for AT was 2 at guns and a piat squad, split that shit up and he can't handle your vehicles.

So in the end the Panzerwerfer pretty much won you the game, because it let you destroy the bofors. you could have had this much sooner if you had just got a mortar out. Bomb it until it braces, if it tries to barrage back move up your pack and shoot it until it braces. Keep baragin' away and finish it off with vehicles. An LeFh would have worked too.

Prioritize the fuel as well, you were spending time capping his muni instead of the vp or fuel point.
