i don't like mirror matches but i think it would improve the game overall because it would be easier to find matches and because it would expose people to their own units. i do think think the game should prioritize non-mirror matches though.

Mirror matches would just be bad... We can't have super Aryan brothers fighting each other over mere scraps of territory, but defending the Reich from the communist pigs and the oppressiveness of democracy.

But no, really, no mirror matches.
It would fuck balance up. Things like AT gun penetration/damage would have to be changed. HP on vehicles/buildings would have to be homogenized as well as damage, pen, armor values.

So, USF 57mm AT guns is ok against german armor, but it's fucking great against USF armor.

So to make the cost balance, you'd need to either change prices against each faction or adjust the armor/hp/damage of every single vehicle in the game.

So, while Relic just has to look at German vs. Allies things when comparing balance, they'd have to add two/three factions when concerning balance decisions as well.

I would like to see mirror matches and see how they work, I wouldn't like complete mirror matches, eg Sov vs. Sov, Osth vs Osth and so on, but for example OKW vs. Ostheer would be an interesting match and Brits vs USF

Playing against the same faction in a game like this isn't even close to being fun to play, it's just a stale fight between who has the better cover and who can attack move their blobs better :snfPeter:

no mirror matches has been one of the best features ever in coh








i remember Dawn of War 1: every time i saw that Space Marine vs Space Marine in loading screen i had to puke (although eldar vs eldar was the worst)

Shreck blob gonna win vs everything OKW has.

If other side gonna use light or medium vehical.

Pop out Falls snare and kill it.

If other side gonna use more than 1 Leig

Pop out Jaigers or Falls and kill them.

If other side put Swhere somewhere too far. Sacrifice a squad at one side and remove the swherer with shreckblob

Only Stuka would have some impact even Sturmtiger will suck coz OKW has so many units with extened vision range.


This mirror match up will show how broken OKW design is.


actually panzerfusaliers with g43 spotting for a AA halftruck counters volks blob pretty well

No, for the simple reason of RNG.

Imagine Grens in green cover versus Grens in green cover. The distance does not matter. Who wins is decided purely by rng. With Cons vs Grens you have at least a strategical element: Cons for close range, Grens for long range. If you have exactly the same units fighting against each other, moving them into favorable ranges is senseless.

mirror matches are arguably ultimate balance though. both players have the same exact tools at their disposal.


I have to disagree with this, because commanders can play a huge part in 1v1s. I remember scrimming with a friend on mine before the OCF tourney. We went USF vs USF and my friend went the Jeep against me which was almost impossible to deal with, as rifles don't have enough penetration. After this match we tested the Soviet clown car and my rifles would never pen on the frontal armour, even the WC51 Jeep got absolutely wrecked by the car's MG (the rear MG also did decent damage against it).

Voted no from my personal experience as some early game units are impossible to counter with mirror matches.
