This weekend I played around with an ultrawider screen I happened to have at home.
The result for me is,
the wider the screen, the more you see.
Both images were taken at the same spot, zoomed out, with the VP on the right side still visible.
This picture here is my standard monitor with 1048 pixels width:
And here you have the same map with around 2500 pixels width.
From now on I want to have this super wide screen all the time and see more.
opinions?
wider screen --> see more map -->win more games

I've tried 5760x1080 (3 x 21.5" 1920x1080 monitors, my current setup) and I found it to be annoying having to turn my head just to see resources and then check the minimap. I wouldn't recommend it. For any FPS game that can focus the GUI to the middle monitor, it's great. But not for COH2.

Well, I guess there is some sweet spot between small screens and the widest, where you combine pros from both.

I have played CoH2 at 5k (5120 x 2880); the smaller UI is a nice bonus, but the tactical map is also proportionately smaller. The mouse pointer is so tiny you'd lose track of it half the time.
It's not a huge issue at the moment because high DPI monitors are relatively rare, but it needs to be eventually addressed or CoH2 is dommed to obscurity when future (next-gen) machines can't run it properly, even when the hardware's all caught up.

yea, too big is a pain.
Friend of mine has 30 inch screens in his office.
it is a pain if you sit right in front of it.
As the aussi magic says......there is some sweet spot. Let us go find it........

We don't need bigger monitors or screens we just need to be able to zoom out more.

vertical FoV is fixed so increasing the width increases the horizontal FoV.
