Can some one please tell me the reasoning behind this? So A core unit got nerfed (now 200mp) because they were useful in one commander ? What about when you give them double bars or lmgs. #esportsready

It's ok when sov engis are only 170 mp and they can get a flamer

They don't need to do more damage though. They are cheap utility troops and making them cost more manpower will just increase bleed and hinder a USF player.

OP is trying to say that they had a manpower increase to go along with the damage buff to prevent flamethrower spam with the recent changes to rifle company. And this is bad because one unit was changed because of a commander and this change affects the core USF army even when you don't pick that commander.
