Reason 1: I don't want to wait 5 minutes on x8 speed to go to the spot I wanted to see
Reason 2: If I miss something, I don't want to have to quit the game and reload the replay, and do Reason 1 again.
is it so hard to add?
Going to a specific time in replays

I think technically it is very hard to implement/impossible because how the engine works.

That's the same reason they gave when I asked why they can't add key remapping

Yeah, the whole thing is a synchronous simulation based on instructions in the replay file, and rules in the game files. It most likely wouldn't know what happens at a certain time without playing all of the game up to that point. This would also likely have a lot to do with a lack of a rewind option.
Planetary Annihilation has a robust replay system, but that probably comes out of the game processing replays in a very different manner.
