It's surprising you would even notice, but yeah apparently we set it to 20 max (for no apparent reason).

The minimum password lenght is pretty annoying too. For simple websites like this, I have an easy pw that I wont easily forget, not some DKJ#*(dlfsd892u1234 kind of password...

What do you suggest?

min password 6 instead of 8?
max password 32 instead of 20?

I personally think 8 is good min (but i understand that symbios and maybe others disagree). And yes max could be 32 ^^.

had a six letter password for a long time. (someone wanted my runescape stuff and hacked it. I didn't lose much sleep over it. As I hadn't played that game in years it was a pain in the ass recovering my old email though. now its longer but really it doesn't matter how much longer it is. The reality no password is safe from being cracked by someone who really wants to crack it.

Not being crack-able is never really the goal though as it is unobtainable, the aim is to make your password safe enough that the time it will take to crack it becomes too time consuming to attempt.

This is the exact reason why we need to set a limit of at least 8. It's an easy way to avoid lots of potential trouble. Otherwise people are just lazy and then we need to spend time recovering accout, not to mention as staff account people could be annoying and modify stuff. Having to use backups would be lame.
