Honestly they are the best designed faction, they get incentives for teching and almost every decision you make has an associated opportunity cost.
Biggest problems are lack of non-doctrinal flamers and mech/recon commanders sucking super hard
I feel like if i don't go rifle company i might just get building camped to death and going mech or recon basically gives you an arty strike ok off map thats it.
USF is horribly designed

other then having 2 shitty and one fragile AT source, USF is functional once you get past t0. they definitely have issues against heavies though, especially on cluster maps where jackson can't kite.

Lieutenant is useless, if you go him, you will get shitted on. Only strategy is to blob and spam jackson, half of their commanders are garbage, and now Relic is trying to fix them with a super OP commander.
I use Lt. all the time.

M20 mines should plant faster.(same price though) would definitely encourage me to use LT tier more often.

Another thing why this faction can be hard to play is its constant micro from telling vehicle crews to get out to activating the healing ability on the ambulance. There is also the smoke discharged on the Sherman which can move and deploy it at the same time, but requires your full attention and RNG if the enemy has anti-tank. Another issue with the faction is that once the opponent sees the officer (Captain or Lieutenant), he can change his strategy to deal with the threats he can expect. The M4A3 Sherman also has another micro issue since the USF player has to switch between AP and HE shells. The only medium tank I know that has to put up with this.

Also, blobbing riflemen is never a good idea. Do that with Rear Exhelons, they're weak, but they won't kill you with manpower bleed. Actually, don't blob at all.

non doctrinal 400 damage and 100% immobilize is quite potent for 60 ammo
If you make them cheaper you have to reduce the damage or delete the 100% the immobilization
