Cant play online with standard COH2

Hey...

My friend just decidede to get back to COH2 but he cant join my team in an online match because he is asked to buy one of the DLC armies to play online... Does anyone else have this problem? And do you know a solution?

Ardennes Assault is only for singleplayer.
Does he own any multiplayer army?
(base game, any western front (OKW / USF), or brits)

(still answering, and hoping a mod moves it soon)

Yes he owns the two standard multiplayer armies (Rus and Wer). We have played online together before...

No, he can't really press any of the buttons within the Online & Skirmish button because it will send him to the store where he is told to buy an army in order to play online.
