You don't really have to when you have icons on the top right.

Not on all units or make use of all the numbers, but it's WAY faster to access specific units through control groups than wasting time clicking them on the bar.
Also i'll say control groups of several units or different are quite innefective. Unless it's a pak wall. Also you never want to select a pak or vehicle with infantry. It tends to backfire when you have to retreat.

Ontopic: not neccesarily a buff, but the Lieutenant should feel a bit more diverse than a Rifle with Bar + Thompson. They should get some vet ability.

I mean, I don't have anything in ctrl group 9, but ofc something in 1-2 for easier access

Lieutenant could do with a slight fuel decrease, but nothing too substantial.

To continue the derail, I mostly use control groups solely for my weapon teams so I can be mashing retreat/reverse for them ASAP when I need to.

On topic, I very much would love the Lieutenant to get another ability to be a more unique unit and feel more like some kind of officer. It's long bothered me about him while the Captain's got the nifty On Me! and Supervision. Considering his tiers' units general focus on mobility (Only thing that ain't is the M2HB, and it's definitely pretty fast out of HMGs), I'd imagine something relating that would be a good concept.

Played a few matches. 1st one, went T1 vs Ostheer on Angoville. His BO was three HMG on the right urban side into a 222, FHT, and Pak wall. M2HB wasn't of use vs entrenched troops, his 222 chases my M20 away, and I didn't build an AA track. Smokes was a huge muni drain.

Again vs Ostheer on Semoisky Winter I went 4 rifle Captain Stuart. Went around the HMG, mortared middle and got both muni points, played conservatively (floated 800 MP, I had wiped Gren squads retreating through snow with frags) and cutoff his fuel point with the Stuart and Rifles.

IMO unless your fighting against Battlegroup HQ there's not really an incentive to use the Platoon CP. it's meant to capitalize on early game aggression, but with all the changes USF is forced into a kind of conservative, defensive early game.

Only thing I can imagine is .50 cal spam backed by Bazooka rifles, but it sounds iffy.

I'm just going to throw this out there.

Take 'On Me' away from capt and give it to LT.

Take grenade/smoke grenade away from LT.

Give both LT and Capt elite grenades (they don't have to be unlocked)

Elite grenades:
Paratrooper grenades
Shock trooper grenades
Guard trooper grenades
That sort of thing.

Usually more expensive but they are "cooked".
