Does anyone have any positive experience using WiFi extenders? I just moved into a new place and my desktop is now way, way far away from the router. I would rather not string an ethernet cable from one end of the house to the other, so I am considering getting one.
Moving either the PC or the router is not an option. Buying another router is also not really an option (my ISP is weird in that way).

I'm able to stream on my wifi extender so I can recommend one yeah. It's really easy to set up. Just press the wps (wireless proteced set up) button on the extender, press the same button on your router and wait a bit. Then the extender is connected to your router and you're free to place the extender wherever you want !
If you want some more intel, hit me on Steam :)

Powerline adapters all the way. Can get both wired and wireless ones (wired would be better for a desktop though).

Several different speeds:

Wired

200mbps http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=1657&model=TL-PA2010KIT

500mbps http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=1658&model=TL-PA4010KIT

600mbps http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=3140&model=TL-PA6010KIT

Wireless

300mbps http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=1658&model=TL-WPA4220KIT

At my work we sell lots of TP link stuff, reliable and well priced (at least in the UK)

Thanks for the advice, guys. I didn't know powerline adapters had become a real thing since I'd first heard about them like nine years ago. I got one of the ones you recommended, Puppetmaster. Fingers are crossed that it will a) arrive today and b) work. Muchas gracias!
