Ardennes. How to get rewards question

I kind of like the new Ardennes campaign, but I struggle with it tbh. Always end up with a 5-cross cornered german pockets. Crawling with Jagdtiger etc. TOugh ones.

But one specific thing I don't get is why the reward units never seem to appear anywhere (neither same nor later battles) even if I win the sector that has it as prize?

How is this supposed to work?

If you mean things like WC51, Sherman Bulldozer, then they become available to build (Bulldozer requires MAJ I believe)

LT, CPT and MAJ if you get the specialisations you still have to build, but it doesn't cost you anything

Oh, I see. Thought they were gifted.

Anyway; another question.Seems like the computer opponent in the campaign has endless ressources or what? Having encountered 2 King Tigers and a Jagdtiger in the same (long) game, it sort of feels like you cannot bleed the computer if the scenario does not have a certain kill count as target.Assault pios also spawn like devils.

True or false?

In some cases yes, they will keep adding units. Others (Stourmont, Espeler) what is on the map is essentially static and not replaced.

This generally means that in the dynamic missions it helps to start with RELs to get VPs capped fast, as the battle tends to go against you if it goes too long.

Of course this also means you can farm vet...

Rewards are specific to the company you used to achieve them, so if you gained, say, the Priest howitzer at Vielsam as an event reward and you did it playing as Able, then only Able can train that unit. It will say so in the Units roster when you open up the company info window to check out the perks at the bottom.

Naturally this means that if you want, say, Fox company to get the Jackson from a reward, then you need to make sure Fox company does the mission. Of course this is dumb because there's nothing letting you know where that event will be, which could be way on the other side of the map. This is random logic akin to War Spoils.

As for AI resources, these are scripted. I once encountered a Tiger Ace on that map where you grab the abandoned vehicles. Luckily I used Rangers with panzerschreks running around it. But damn, Tiger Ace? That's just stupid way to up the difficulty. And it wasn't like the AI had lots of strength in that match nor was I farming either. Most scenarios aren't meant to have VP style matches, ie the one where you capture VPs to link up with an allied computer on the other side.
You can still game the system though: the map where you defend three different points in a ruined town can be blocked off with tank traps, I won the game because all the forces couldn't get through and just retreated like I killed them all, including a King Tiger. All I did was spam tons of RETs to build fences and tank traps.

Thanks for the replies.

I've been away from the game for about a year (maybe 2). So I had forgotten the golden rule: blop. This helped weding out the endless stream of marauding units on Bastogne Outskirts. Including the King Tigers.

Yeah some of the campaign scenarios are a bit stupid (especially disappointed by the point-and click tutorial like final mission. Who could possibly fail it?), but I like the overall combination of a strategic map with choices and then the tactical combat.

Much better than the previous, mostly linear campaigns. Relic did this one well.
