So i noticed it while playing the beta.

Units do use cover very nicely, they however do it at the sacrifice of their own "safety"...

They simply clump even more than they did before. I smell countless squad wipes and rage posts.

Clumping in cover is totally fine when units are responding so quickly and efficiently to orders now.

I mean... what else is going to happen? Either they'll stand in the cover close together or they'll stand out of the cover spaced out. You can't have it both ways it's impossible.

try right click dragging with squads to try to get them to spread out a bit more instead of clumping up really bad. it works most of the time to an extent.

Probably a side-effect of adding cover slots.

I doubt anything changed for formations outside of cover.

I think unit spacing out of cover needs tweaking, I watched some old replays of CoH1 and it looked a bit better there. In CoH2, it's not uncommon to see units clumping up on the move, or in capture areas. It's not super-uncommon to see troops so clumped up that they're clipping each other.

This happens when you right click a capture point. It would be nice if they'd fix that but you can easily get around it by just moving into the capture zone instead of right clicking the point.

Sometimes I wonder if a solution would be to give each infantry squad a button where you can toggle between "stay together" and "spread out". It would give us more possibility for micro and would fix the problem of bad model positioning.

I'm 100% satisfied with what relic has done with the cover behavior right now. The UI is giving you a perfect indication of where each entity will be and the game is executing the UI predictions perfectly. When you tell the units to move, all entities move immediately, instead of some of them standing around waiting for the explosion, while others move. It's perfect.

It's better how it is now, your units will use covers in 100% and in green they wont get suppressed as they used to, the fact is, nades will be deadly now

Its only going to be a factor in yellow cover since green cover mitigates a good deal of explosive damage they will be safer there anyways

Just to set the record straight, i'm pretty sure that green cover only mitigates explosive damage if the damage occurs on the opposite side of the cover from the squad. Grenades thrown over the cover onto the squad will still explode with 100% damage, as will AOE weapons that go off on the same side as the squad.

I'm only really saying this because I have heard multiple people stating that green cover mitigates explosive damage, no matter where the explosion is in relation to the squad in cover.

It doesn't matter where the explosion is in relation to the cover.
