Hi guys. I know I've mentioned this before, but how are people finding the USF / Sov match-up? Is anyone playing these semi-mirrors or wants to (friend me, I'm AirfixPanzer on steam)?

For me at least it's a pretty fun match-up and the early game is great. Even Russian call-ins don't have that 'oh fuck' effect OKW ones do.

I'd love to see a counterfactual mod with an imaginary WW3 set in the immediate aftermath of WW2, not least with Pershings and IS2s as well as German volunteers as an 'Allied' faction.

Modders, please!

I haven't played this matchup, but I've heard it's actually very fun.
Quick question, do they have special voice clips for this match? I understand that mirror matches had their own voice samples so Wermacht would talk about 'Rogue Panzer IVs' or something like that.

Basically USF gets fucked hard by sniper + gaurd spam.

Altho it's certainly alot more balanced than USF vs OKW

Snipers and Guards are tough for early USF indeed. The mortar halfie is a good solution and USF infantry is superior to guards. Early armoured car spam goes both way in this match-up, though.

Jacksons utterly murder soviet armour as well.

A small tourney 1 v 1 and 2 v 2 would be great fun, something fresh. I don't know how the top tier players would feel about it, but I urge them to give it a go. It's really growing on me, and as a Soviet player you can have fun with some of the lesser-used commanders too.

I don't know, haven't tried it but I imagine OKW will stomp all over the Wehr.

It's always awkward to see the Soviets using M3's and M5's in that scenario. It's the worst if he goes Lend-Lease, because then he gets better Shermans than the USF unless USF goes Rifle Company.

That commander with the little Dodge trucks is great against a Soviet player who chooses shocks. Like I say he's pretty meh versus OKW but up against Russians it takes on a new dynamic entirely.

Ditto the Greyhound, all of a sudden a meh unit gets a new lease of life and utility.

Soviets might have the upper hand with all those snipers and M3a1s on open maps :/

Hmm, I don't know. Imagine the Wehr sniper wrecking OKW infantry? Grens would have an advantage over Volks in early game too...

I would like to try that matchup sometime actually.

I never got why people hype and hype about 'omg soviet snipers will wreck 4eva' when the Germans have a better sniper already. RoF > Durability for snipers even m ore so than usual when the army you fight has no conveniently available mortars or sprints

While the Ostheer sniper does seem better in a vacuum, you will RARELY see matches where one survives to vet 2 or more. Last time I used one he took about 15% damage, then took 2 bullets at near max-range from the first burst from a vet 0 Maxim and was gone forever. That will rarely happen to the Soviet sniper. In addition, Soviet units have larger squad sizes and lower reinforce cost than Axis so the sniper is just not as good unless you are specifically targeting Shocks or , to a lesser extent, Guards.

Easy fix: Soviet sniper only has minimal sight range without his spotter alive. Makes the tension between reinforcing and staying on the field and using other units to spot much more real.

One last thing: The Ostheer sniper heals very fast when you use the vet 1 medpacks from grens or pioneers on him.

Can Pathfinder teams counter-snipe or do they only work versus injured units in that respect?
