Hey!
I have downloaded Company of Heroes New Steam Version. The only problem i have with it, is that its pretty laggy. I didnt have this problem befor. I started looking on google and find DirectX10 is not good for Company of Heroes. Well, it makes the game nicer, but your FPS drops a lot because of the dust, explosions, lighting, etc. Is this true?
I dont know what DirectX i have now at the moment, but i saw when i started the steam version for the first time a new DirectX was installing. Any idea how i can look this up and install an older version?
Thanks in advance!
Staf

Shader settings "ultra" mean DirectX 10, and Shader "high" and lower mean DX9. ... The optical improvement of ultra over high is debateable, so its safe to just use "high"

Thanks for the fast and helpful answer! So there is nothing else i can do about it? I have all settings on lowest. Is this a fault by Steam? Anyway, it would be weird if your performance drop just because the game is runned by Steam..

So all your graphical settings are identical to your old install (all set to lowest), however with the new steam version you experience a performance (FPS) hit?

Yep, but the graphics look higher, is it possible those settings arent working yet for this version?

I have configured less detail in Steam version and I have worse performance than running it on normal COH.
I've made the test, I downloaded Tales of Valor from Steam and the performance was bad as well.
I only have good performance with COH played out of Steam.
Yes, this means I have 3 COH-1 installed right now. 2 on Steam and 1 as a single game. Both on steam performance (with same and lower settings) works bad compared to my normal COH.
My PC settings are: 3GHZ 8Gb RAM and ATI 6700 card.

It could be the Overlay. I think you can disable that.
I'm not noticing any performance difference between the RO Steam version and the Steamworks Steam version.
