First I was thinking like op and thought that it's not good because it doesn't rofl stomp infantry.
However when used according to its role it's very good. It denies garrisons and has limited at capabilities. It shoots more precise than a mortar and strongly enhances your infantry by taking out enemy models (thus reducing the damage your infantry receives).
Another point I appreciate is that it doesn't kill your own infantry like mortars.
However a smoke shot ability would be nice to engage HMG's.
Okw Infantry support gun needs a buff?

The trajectory is a bit of a problem. When shooting close to minimum range the smallest of shot blockers will block the shot. Which can lead to a lot of friendly fire kills as those shot blockers are usually green cover pieces that your units are using.
