1.5 year old system:

CPU: Intel i5 2500k 3.3 GHz quad-core
GPU: HIS AMD HD6950 2GB OC (custom cooler)
RAM: 12 GB Corsair XMS3 (PC3-10600 1333MHz)
Cooler: Scythe Mugen 2
PSU: Corsair TX650
HDD: Seagate 500GB (need more)

Extremely silent in idle mode. I didn't run into a title that i couldn't run at maxed settings at 30+ fps, yet (COH, BF3, ...), so i guess i'll stick with it for a while.

if you're not running demanding media applications such as Adobe creative suite, your CPU will not be the limiting factor anyway. Gaming performance is bottlenecked by the GPU in most cases.

Perhaps get a cheaper motherboard like a P8Z77-V or a Asrock Xtreme4 and that will free up cash to move to a 3770K which actually outperforms the 3930K in some scenarios and is neck in neck with it otherwise. But yea, the 3570K is plenty and is what I'm running despite the fact that I coulda dropped the extra cash on a 3770K if i wanted.

The Maximus is overkill unless you want to run 2-3 video cards + overclock like a mofo with exotic cooling etc.

I want to OC but I am still green to OC like a pro, would like to go 4.4 or above.

I have heard many good things about the Asrock Xtreme4.

You will be able to OC fine with either of those 2 cheaper boards. I'm doing so now on my Asus P8Z77-V Pro, overclocks like a champ.

I got a Asus GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II myself and I'm very happy with it. I see no reason in why you should by a 680 instead beacuse there isn't such a big difference performance wise. But the GTX 680 is costing quite a bit more.

I also got the same motherboard as Budwise, great board!
