the way coh2 automatches is sooooo messed up in its current state.
i am starting to avoid playing ranked (non-arranged) team matches. they are just too huge of a gamble to bother with. it seems way to prevalent that i get a teammate that has played less than 10 games, and they are on my team, and we might be going against an arranged team. i don't mind arranged teams VS non-arranged teams. what i DO mind is the consistent issue with getting a teammate that does not have a clue how to play. please stop placing NEW players with higher ranked players. i certainly don't consider myself i pro player or anything of the sort, but i still don't want to be matched with a person who just bought the game.
1v1 automatches are fine as they are.
2v2 & 3v3 & 4v4 need to have the automatching system fixed.
how about NOT putting players with less than 10 games of that particular game type with players that actually have a rank in that particular game type ???
keep 10 games or less players on the SAME team, and keep the ranked players on the same team (please don't combine ranked and unranked players)
another problem with the current 2v2 & 3v3 & 4v4 match system is the never ending unranked status of arranged teams.
i play with LOTS of different people. so my 2v2 & 3v3 & 4v4 is ranked "provisional" because i have not played 10 matches with the EXACT same team for 10 games. this is just crazy.
how about this for an idea. arranged team matches EFFECT your un-arranged rank/elo, but your un-arranged team rank does not effect your arranged team rank/elo ?
maybe this way we can start having more consistent matches against equal teams.
PS: until a particular TEAM has a RANKED status, can we use the non-arranged team individual ranks to use for the automatching parameters ?
PLEASE fix the automatching process/algorithm

This might happen due to the fact that there's simply not enough players in automatch. At least it seems that in 1v1 this is the case since most of the time I either get a very good or a very bad player against me.

There's nothing wrong with how automatch works. There just aren't enough players. And "unranked" players still have a rating, it's just not visible and has higher uncertainty.

What Inverse said.
Even best algorithm in the world will not make up for the lack of players around your skill level.
All I can say is play more soviets, there is still much more people playing germans, so you have a better chance of getting equal opponent.

BUT
will there EVER be enough players to have automatch work properly in its current form ?
should we not automatch according to the current player base ?
above guys...do any of you actually play random team automatches ? don't u find it infuriating to be teamed up with new players ?

Do you even realize you are asking for impossible?
You are asking for the possibility of flying in the sky without leaving the ground.

Automatch in its current form is optimal for the size of the playerbase. People generally don't want to wait a long time for games; they want to queue up and be in a match in a few minutes at most. All of your suggestions would impose limitations on which players can be matched with which other players, which would fragment the tiny playerbase and drastically increase wait times. Not to mention the fact that your suggestions would likely have no impact on game quality, and might even make things worse.
Any matchmaking system is going to be terrible for players on the extreme ends of the spectrum (either very good or very bad players). CoH2's system is completely adequate and entirely standard for a strategy game of its size.
