First official picture of "T-14" the new Russian MBT. Notice the commander is on the right hand of the tank next to the drivers instead of the turret.
The turret is remotely controlled and separate from the fighting compartment, increasing survivability. A needed improvement over previous Soviet tanks and lessons learned. (Turret hits being common in attacks when hulled down and hit with attacks from the air.)
Not much is know about it, as you can see turret and gun is covered and will be removed for Victory Day parade.
Engine is a multi-fuel direct-injection diesel engine with variable powersettings. Either giving out 1200 or 1500hp. (In order to spare the engine in peacetime manoeuvres.) Multi-fuel is because what I heard it will be able to run on both diesel, ethanol, gas or whatever you have lying around. (It is highly speculative, really very little is known about this tank. )
Main gun is 125mm, secondary armament is a 30mm cannon, 12,7mm KORD machine-gun as well as a PKMT 7,62mm next to the gun.
Radar is given as a the same type that is on the T-50/PAK FA prototype fighter. That will also be shown on 9th of may.
T-14 is part of a larger family that will include heavy IFVs, self-propelled artillery, something similar to the TOS-1, enginnering units. Basically trying to replace the old BMPs and T-72 based vehicles with a new family.
