The alpha was complete ownage!
Strange at first, yes, but after a few games I saw the potential, and I can't wait to see what they've made of it in the beta! :)

The alpha wasn't to my liking. It didn't even feel like the same game.

They can take as much time as they need. As long as the BETA isn't the same as the ALPHA i'll be happy.

Didn't feel like the same game? What alpha have you been playing? It definetly had the 'CoH feeling' tbh. I agree with Qvazar's post. It felt kinda awkward to play at first. Alot of new mechanics had been introduced and it took me several games to get comfortable with them. Game after game I started to enjoy it more. There is alot potential in the game. It just felt rushed by THQ. So these extra 3 months given by SEGA should be good for the game.

The speed wasn't there. neither was the unit movement dynamic from the original. Now, I'm not asking for the same game again, in fact I am an advocate of progress and change. But a lot of stuff was changed for no reason at all. The UI was horrendous and the units moved like shopping trolleys. And tbh I felt little connection to the units that I had on the field (something I immediately enjoyed about the original). I hope to those extra 3 months DO make a difference.

for coh 3 alpha sign up, there should be a checkbox: "I understand what ALPHA STATUS and ALPHA STRESS TEST means" :-P

Indeed, and also NDA is a thing people should re-read

Only to discover it means nothing as the company it was made out to is now insolvent? :P

i don't know if such things transfer between owners, or not....

In any case, there certainly is a reason why Alpha version access is only given to a very limited number of people and why these people are asked to keep their oppinion about the alpha version for themself. It was not even a game test, but a server stress-test. Of course the game is far from ready, and the company does not want to see impressions of such an incomplete version in public.
It's pathetic to read things like "this game sucks" in public, because it is not exemplary for the final game, but still people will base their oppinion on it.

You seem to think I missed the point of the ALPHA by voicing concerns for game design at such an early stage?

any prudent design process would operate in the opposite way. I'd rather concerns were voiced earlier on and dismissed with 'its only in ALPHA!' than not speak up and be sold a worse game because of it.. each to their own I guess.

Personally I think the collapse of the original NDA agreement with THQ is a good thing. Consumers should be able to provide constructive feedback (even before BETA stage) on a game they hope to play one day. I understand that this Site has close ties with Relic and honours this, I am trying to respect this myself by not going into specifics about what I experienced and only tried to provide opinion-based constructive criticisms. Perhaps I over stepped the mark when I said the ALPHA was terrible. That was my mistake and I exaggerated - I have edited my previous post. If anyone thought I revealed too much with the rest of my post then I apologise and will purge previous posts of information on request.

Until that time I am only trying to improve the game to it's optimum level, I don't wanna see a shit game.

Question: the ones that have keys from special events (such as E3) will we be able to use them to play the beta?(was it only for the alpha?) Or do you have to have the pre-order?

if you have alpha you can get into beta. atleast that what was said back when they were apart of thq and i don't expect that to change.

It'll be between 12:01 am and 11:59 pm Pacific Time tomorrow.

I know it's not exact, but we don't control Steam and nor the other companies distributing beta keys. So we can't control it, and don't want to promise anything.

I just got a key in an email from Relic for helping with their testing, but I might wait till I see how they handle giving them out to people who preorder. I'm really tempted to put it into Steam right now though :P
