Explosion on escort carriers 'Swan' (USS Suwannee, CVE-27), attack aircraft bombers. The photo was taken with the escort carrier Sengamon (USS Sangamon, CVE-26), on the flight deck which stands torpedo-bomber 'Avenger' (Grumman TBF Avenger). Over the burning aircraft carrier flies couple 'Avengers' at the time of the Japanese attack, returning from his sortie.

26/10/1944, the escort carrier 'Swan' was struck by two kamikaze planes (fighters A6M 'Zero') every few minutes. As a result of these attacks the ship was severely damaged, over 100 people died and another 170 were wounded. However, 'Swan' remained afloat, was renovated and re-entered the system.
