Getting just a touch obvious, no?

Can't see what interest speeches have to those interested in military, rather than political, history. Not even as if he was any great thinker, anyway.

Does anybody know what this is all about?

It is a "Sturmpistole". The Sturmpistole is a modified flare pistol (Leuchtpistole) to fire explosive ammunition in combat. The soldier has loaded a "Panzerwurfkörper 42 LP" - an anti tank grenade. The Panzerwurfkörper 42 LP was a hollow charge round. The grenade had a range of 75m and could pierce 80mm of steel armour. Only small numbers were produced because Panzerfaust and Panzerschreck were available in greater numbers (and cheaper). There was a modified version of the Sturmpistole with shoulder stock to compensate the recoil of the combat ammunition.

By the way: The soldier is an officer of the german elite division "Panzergrenadier-Division Großdeutschland".

German 600-mm self-propelled mortar "Karl"

Leibstandarte tank column pauses before entering the maelstrom that is Kharkov. The obsolete Panzer II tanks were used for liaison and reconnaissance tasks at this stage in the war, March 1943.

The 12.8cm Selbstfahrlafette auf vk 30.01 (h) better known as sturer emil.
It had an amazing 128mm pak 40 L/61 gun.
Mobility and speed were not very good, it’s 300hp engine was overwhelmed.
Only two where ever built, one was captured, the other destroyed.
