"On-screen resource warnings"

I see streamers playing with this setting on and I don't understand why anyone would use it. I feel like turning it off makes knowing when you can use abilities and build units blatantly obvious since you cannot highlight their respective buttons until you have the required resources.

Click on options, then gameplay, then select off for "on screen resource warnings."
ex: you pick a commander with a call-in, you can't click the call-in until you have the necessary resources. this makes knowing precisely when abilities and units are available not require you to look at your resources. Having it on seems totally unintuitive to me, maybe if you could queue units and they would build as soon as you have the resources it would make sense.
