How silly, why did you call out DoW 2 specifically? You do realize there was another CoH and DoW before the sequels, yes?

The engine has little to do with the issues you mentioned. While an engine can be tailored to make a specific kind of game in mind, a good engine can make almost any kind of game if enough time and thought is put into it.
For example Unreal has strategy games, FPS games, platformers, adventure games, etc etc etc. That's part of design, not technical specs.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. They focused too much on gimmicky features such as Cold Tech, which no body ended up not liking due to it ruined the flow of the game and destroys performance. True-sight was probably the best thing they implemented.
Going back to the Essence 3.0 engine, it has awful performance and has god awful textures. When a Titan can't run this game on max, then their is a problem. The game has no sli support even though it's 2013 and even vCoh had it.

Because the Essence Engine "3.0" is a copy and paste of Dawn of War 2's engine while COh1 and Dow1 used a much older build of that engine. The only reason why it's "3.0" is because the additional destruction, coldtech, and truesight.

...But it has nothing to do with why a lot of people are dissapointed with CoH2. It has nothing to do with artillery changes, it has nothing to do with DoW2, it has nothing to do with that. As an analogy, Battlefield 4 has VERY bad optimization, too, but the Frostbite engine is popularly loved.
We have no right to criticize Essence 3.0, unless you have personally developed on it. I doubt anyone on here knows the full list of changes that the 3.0 version brought from 2.0, and I doubt even more that most people reading this know how those changes work.
It has been repeated time and time again that certain features in the game cannot realistically be changed at this point. Others can...

And?
Everything he goes into detail on either existed in DoW or CoH or it didn't exist in DoW2.
The only real influence DoW2 had on CoH2 had nothing to do with the engine: a move from the positioning oriented combat of vCoH to the ability based combat of DoW2.

This is pretty much the best description. CoH2 has a very DoW2 feel to it.

I am trying to give the most detail explanation why I think COH 2 needs improvements to make it the great game it deserves to be.
Well written, +1
