I was wondering about that, looked like the place was indeed dying a death, nice to see a thread ;-)
I think this new patch will actually go a long way to keeping the playerbase alive, the number of core changes, improvements, and bugfixes was massive (even if there is still a long way to go). And they seem to already be acknowledging that the console port isn't even worth updating.
So it's a good indication that their priorities are not as bad as they seemed, last patches.
And as others have said balance is actually in a surprisingly good state already. CoH2 took months to become playable without the meme strats.
