One of the problems I find when I’m trying to make 8p competitive maps is that there are too few points for each player to fight over.
2fuel + 2muni +10regular +3vp / 4 pairs of players = 4.2 points per player pair.
Imagine playing a 1v1 with only four points to contest. There would be few to no opportunities to be tactical and flank enemies.
I noticed an unused(?)* asset in the mapmaker called resource_point_low, and made a quick mod in the AE where I edited the resource modifiers, and it actually worked, giving 2 less muni and 1 less fuel per minute than a “normal” point
Currently, it only gives 1 less muni per minute.
*Unless changing resource_point_low will break the game, it could be a good idea to implement this change as it would open up new options for map makers and hopefully help make 4v4s more dynamic.
This seems like a big change at this stage of the game, but I thought I would put it out there
If any high level 4v4 players or map makers could tell me if this new mapmaking option would improve gameplay it would be welcome!
