Match against Angriefen, It was a struggle and I made a pretty horrible Commander choice, but what else could I have done against his playstyle?

Hey, we played recently. I thought I'd try and be helpful.
Just a few pointers:
Activating the repair ability of your T-70 will help you survive an additional Rak/Pak shot.
Try and keep your flamer engies (who have much more dps against garrisoned units than your conscripts) in the fight by continuously merging conscripts into them.
In mass engagements, an early maxim or DSHK really helps to trade cost effectively and most importantly maintain your field presence. An early suppression tool is a force multiplier! It also allows you to make a forward truck potentially work against your opponent by bleeding him there in unprofitable engagements. Be wary of Falls/Jägers popping out of adjacent houses.
Always try and take his Raketenwerfer if you can!
Munitions float. As Soviets, you generally want to spam mines. If your engineers are idle, shift spam defensive mines, if you want to be mean, demo the houses next to your support weapons. His Falls pop out...and surprise! Arguably, mining up becomes even mroe important in the lategame because Obers will lose still 2-3 models to a mine same as high vet Volks and be rendered hors de combat immediately lest your opponent risks a squadwipe, mines win games. Demos can decide games in one fell swoop. I think your doctrine choice was a bit unfortunate as the ISU needs long open lanes to realise its full potential, plus he already had the Panther on the field which is highly dangerous to an ISU. With your available commanders I'd have chosen Lend-Lease for mass Shermans and DSHKs, Shock Rifle is generally ideal on this map. As it offers a strong AI infantry, indirect fire, the KV-8 for anti garrison work and the IS-2 that can engage even the heaviest OKW armour on even terms.
If your opponent hunkers down around his trucks, dont hesitate to go around the flanks and into his base.
In general your approach was sound and overall play quite good, with a bit more experience I don't see why you could not win this matchup.

After the match, I was thinking I should have gone Guard Motor for 85's, 120mm Mortars, and maybe tech T4 and get a Katyusha to counter those pesky double ISG's that were destroying me over time. Mechanized Support was the worst commander decision I could have chose. Due to the fact I veto Langreskaya, Minsk, Crossing, and Road to Kharkov, I really shouldn't be using that commander. I struggle against defensive playstyles and tend to lose Wars of Attrition. I also forget about how powerful demos are against OKW. My problem is not adapting when stalling for Call-ins isn't going to work. I need to know when to go T4 to apply pressure or when to wait for Call-ins. I tend to be too hard on myself for mistakes and it often sinks my play.
Thanks for the tips though!
