Hello,
i started playing this game when it was on sale, around christmas. Played a some games against cpu, played some games with other players vs. cpu, mostly to just get a clue what to build and to learn a bit about the maps. I had real fun doing this, experimented with all factions, tried some ToW and so on.
A few weeks ago I started playing 1vs1 matches ( ranked match), lost some , won some, all games seemed to me kind of balanced. On average those games lasted 35-45 minutes.
So far my experience with the matchmaking and ranked matches was pretty much the same I had a few years ago with coh1.
Well, that experience is gone now. The last 12 or more matches were totaly different...
I admit losing is never an enjoyable experience, but thats ok for me as long as the game is fun or atleast the players are on a certain range of the same skill-level .
OK. So I lost approximately a dozen matches, in a row, not funny or motivating , but ok I can deal with that.
What I cant realy understand is: I was matched up with players that realy were way above my skill-level . I watched some of the games as replay and those matches were decided in 10 -15 minutes.
Yes, i got wrecked. No chance to win against those guys. Those games must have been realy boring to them.
Until the last match i played today, I thought "hey it will get better, it cant be that bad..."
My last match was against a dude who had his level maxed out, it was on langreskaya and it took him 5 minutes to show me I am in the wrong match.
So this made me register here and ask 1 Question:
Is there something wrong with the matchmaking?
When i watch livegames from the 2nd or 3rd page, I see players who play terrible, just as I do.... But the seriously strange matchmaking decides to put me into games against top-players...
Were is the logic in that? it´s not fun to them ( or maybe it is?) and it sure isn´t fun to me.
--------
The text above is just copied from my original thread at the official forums.
I uploaded this replay not to cry about the player or the balance of the game.
This is just to show that ( atleast for me ) the matchmaking seems to be kind of broken.
I am still a real newbie in this game and get constantly matched like this...
I am doomed :(

Answer one, not helpful at all.
Answer two, it's not really good enough. The player base is so small, that noobies get matched against pros. So noobies leave, and the player base never gets bigger. Vicious cycle, that Relic have only themselves to blame for.

That must be frustrating ... wait 10 minutes for a game, get matched with a newbie to play 15 minutes and the newbie is 10 minutes afk.
I feel kind of sorry now :/

play more matches the matchmaking will normalize your matchup.. it cant decide a proper tier based on 10-20 matches i had this ride 3 months ago when i was new was frustrating but i did learn a lot from the losses ..

The matchmaking is a big problem and in my opinion the major factor for all the balance whining.
The problem is that it takes ages to find a game as a top player, because nobody of equal skill is online and searching for a game.
So after some time you will get any opponent, just to have a match.
Bad luck happens to everybody don't worry. If you are placed against a top player see it as a opportunity to improve your skill. You can learn more from loses than from wins.
And welcome to the board.

Of course it takes ages to find a game for a better player if the playerbase is being kept small with that " oh, btw our system needs you to play 10 games, per gamemode , per faction to decide you´re a beginner"-system. To find that out, someone on the official forums had to tell me about it
Thats 160 games... one hundred and sixty.
I know matchmakingsystems are never perfect, but this system is a joke.
Oh well, since i have lost so many matches in a row, just so the system can decide I am a beginner, I guess I will be matched against the dudes who play this game with a steeringwheel at some point in the near future...
btw: Yes, I think many if not the majority of cry-threads about balance in this game come from that terrible matchmaking. If someone plays only faction x and loses constantly versus faction y and z, ofcourse it looks like there are overwhelming balance issues.
I played 3 of 4 factions ( yeah I know now I was silly to do that) and faction realy didn´t matter at all...
Edit: I forgot to say "Hi there"
