GG, WP, Enjoyable back and forth game, with swings both ways until the very end. Really small margins between victory and defeat!

Grats to the Osteer player who used true sight very well, his doctrine, set ambushes, tellers and threw a variety of units into the mix!

Imo you have some good plays from both sides and some tactical/strategic mistakes from both sides plus some proper RNG moments which makes it an entertaining game!

GG man! nice to see the upload, your snipers were annoying as hell. I got lucky with the t34/85 steals but was a great game

Good to see the better player win.

This was one of the lamest and most rage-inducing builds I have seen in any strategy game so far.

Snipers need health nerf, guards aswell. T-85 also need nerf and Ostwind needs buff. Also, Ostwind needs to be able to shoot down planes when they're outside of map like in VCoH.

That Sniper rage...;)

Bump Guards back to 2 CP (and shocks), job done. Tweak after that if needs be. Ostwinds, T-85's and Soviet Snipers are grand.

@Greenpath, was a fun game, you definitely committed some grand theft auto during the game!

It wasn't the snipers in and of themselves, more the entire thing of an "on-rail" strategy without any need for strategic decision making our thought. The entire "Hmm, should I consider what my opponent is building/doing and adapt to it? NOPE, DON'T HAVE TO". It's annoying to see in any strategy game.

I like the idea of upping CP cost for guards/shocks. Maybe do what they did for Pio-spam in VCoH, Increase susceptebility for damage when they're massed, to snipers (both german and soviets).

This replay gives me a glimpse of hope when facing a build like this where everything is a hard counter to whatever the German throws at it.

Thank you mrgreenpath- you've revived my faith.

In the beginning of this game a mortar or mortar halftrack may have helped the Germans.
Also, Against Guards rifle/sniper combo, attacking the side victory points and splitting the soviet army up can make flanking the snipers easier.

Guards rifles are a bit to powerful vs light/medium vehicles and have to much armor vs light infantry fire.

Imo I think Guards are okay, just need to push them back a little bit CP wise (or make them non doctrinal and adjust accordingly!).

When I run up against Snipers/Guards as Ostheer, I try the old blob Grens, lots of Grens and a Mg42 and a Halftrack, march on the cutoffs and wait for a tiger. Just keep reinforcing and retreating units back to the blob, makes them harder to target! Strafe run or G43'd do nicely as well. Not very advanced tactics admittedly, but i've got some joy. Can depend on the map.

A Mortar would probably do well, but I usually just go for moooooar Grens vs snipers.

Wouldn't a couple of mortars/barrage ability/howitzer force you to break up that blob and attack though?

Early/mid game, the only real viable option out of them for the Soviet is the 120m mortar, which means one less frontline squad/sniper for the soviet. Spread out a bit more obviously if they get a mortar and push harder or get your own mortar as the 120m I find a bit crap.

It's not a masterful strat I admit, but i've found some joy with it on some maps where the cutoff is harsh on soviets.
