Ill watch and give tips.

Good map choice. This map is considered very balanced and fun to play. Same goes for faction choice. I think you did very well for someone with 20 games experience.

A few basic rules about build order:

1. Always spend your ressources. You're already doing a good job at this but there's still room for improvement. Ideally you should think of a starting build order before the game and follow it step by step building the units asap.

2. Try to always have 3 "mainline infantry units". By this I mean the standard infantry units each faction has. In the case of Ostheer it's the grenadiers. They provide you with panzerfausts that allow you to break the engine of vehicles (if you take them below 75% hp) This is called a "snare" and one of the most basic mechanics in CoH2. Without fausts vehicles can run rampant very easily!

3. Just in case of you wanting to follow a "standard" build order here's the most standard and safe Ostheer one I can think of: MG -> Gren -> Gren -> Gren -> Tech -> Panzergrenadier (equip Panzerschrecks later in the game) -> T2 Building -> Pak -> Mortar/another MG -> T3 Tanks

Other than that it's hard to give advice on a game vs AI because CoH2 AI is only good at spamming units and moving them around randomly. So very different rules apply. You could train with a standard build order until you beat Expert AI (shouldnt take too long considering you looked fairly comfortable here) or you could just jump straight into mp. If you wanna play teamgames play teamgames. Try not to let people discourage you if they flame you for being new. (if they get matched with you as a beginner they suck themselves). Ideally just play 1v1 games thats probably the quickest way to learn the basics. I'll give more advice once you get into multiplayer

There's too many variables to make up general rules. There's commanders that completely change the game like the assault grenadier one you picked. I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner because Assault Grenadiers are built instead of grenadiers most of the time and are quite a cheesy unit. It's better to train with regular grenadiers. But in the end of the day you just need to have fun and experiment with the different commanders.

https://www.coh2.org/guides/33767/commander-tiers this is mostly outdated but should give you a decent orientation

Ah thats great man, thanks for the reply. One more thing: i have watched some other plays from helpinghans and read some posts, it seems the general consensus is that ostheer is underwhelming early game and mid? I myself also have this problem. I find it hard to wrestle map control since my gren models easily die and have to be called back, so much so that i have to make a rule to always have to make 2 pair of gren and mg every early game to at least control my half of the map? Is this a common practice or is there an alternative that im not considering?
