I saw Ipkais forum posts on ESL before and his frustration was very visible and understandable. Fair to post it in theses forums. Valuable to have it there.
Having this as a front page article on COH.org gives me the impression that COH2.org itself sees COH2 going downhill. For me as a reader this very easily gives the impression that COH2.org itself does not care a lot anymore.
The article says otherwise, it states that it is simply a single opinion. Well, that is a weird excuse. Sounds like a legal notice nobody will care about. It actually sounds a bit dishonest to me.
Summing up, I can understand Ipkai’s frustration. I absolutely cannot understand to have this as the front page article. What do you want to achieve by doing that? Tell everybody else to stop working on the site, stop working with relic because it is useless? Tell Relic to not work with COH2.org because they are difficult to deal with?
Frustration is a nasty thing to deal with. Headline articles won’t do anything good about it I am afraid.

I think ESL is good. The rules for the kickoff cup were wrong. It was easy to see that the rules were not written by someone familiar with the game which made things frustrating.
Seeds should've been made using ladder rankings.
I like A_E's optimism and I think he's a cool dude and I trust him so coh2 will do good.
Any new content relic releases, playerbase increases.
Relic can still do stuff to make $$, allowing them to potentially support ESL stuff.
I'm tired sorry I can't write out a more detailed response.

A_E as lead caster who is only after promoting his channel
Excuse me, but what's wrong with that?
I personally find the use of ESL for promoting your own agenda a bit tasteless. There were occasions where DLC codes provided by Relic? were given to the first one doing something related to his youtube channel, like subscribing or posting a comment to one of his videos.
While the timing of this blog post may be inappropriate, the possible reasons for that are yet to be announced. I think that's one of the problems: Secrecy and always waiting to the last possible moment to announce something. Like with the new forums, it was the last possible working day of January (it was also the last day to deliver the new forums, according to the original announcement, which, by the way, is still the same: It is estimated that this maintenance and migration will be completed in January, 2016.) when the further delay of (at max) a full month was announced officially.

It's not tasteless to self promote once or twice for a few minutes during a nine hour stream of casts.
The fact that people have a problem with this and can't see that I've put hundreds of hours into tournament casting without expectation of payment has pissed me off, it was a few plugs of my YouTube channel.

If you get paid one day.....different story. Right now: keep plugging!

Yeah, and on the other hand there is OCF casters, who got the real money from their tremendous effort (thanks for all donators!). And the merchandise! And promotions all over the social media. That is how you do it, Relic!
OH WAIT...

You can justify it to yourself however you want. I want to point out it's my personal opinion and it is what it is. I appreciate your efforts and acknowledge the amount of time you've spent for this community.
For me, someone becoming an official ESL caster does not mean they can promote their own content (as much as you have done - I know, it's an imaginary line).
That's how I see it. I'm sorry if I offended you, my wording was a bit rough.

Pretty much this. People tend to forget that a larger, far less vocal part of the community just enjoys compstomps or team games for fun.
It took Relic a while to get their stuff straight but I'm liking where Relic's going for the past (few) months. Ipkai, as much as I repsect your opinion, I feel like it's a bit too late for stuff like this. Just my two cents
+1

That was my concern initially, how it might appear to show us going back on our seemingly good relationship with Relic, but the concensus was; Relic abandoned our tournaments for ESL, let's portalise an opinion piece on it. It doesn't mean we all think like this, but many of us do.

Relic hasn't abanoned our tournaments... This isn't what I think either, its a fact. VET3EVENTS is supported by RELIC, maybe not financially but we're not lookin for them to provide money. Thanks

+1 Opinions are opinions, a year ago I was at a stage like this, but then I realized just how much has already been dedicated to this community vs other community's of similar size multiplayer wise, and I respect that. For a community of this size the dedication of players who have all contributed in one way or another is phenomenal, considering the level of failure Relic has thrown at us before Kyle came along.
TL;DR I like Kyle
He's at least trying to understand the game.

Meh. Writers get to write blog articles, which can be about whatever. As long as it somehow links back to CoH2 or WW2. Even a German pancake recipe from the time will do. Does that mean that COH2.ORG wants you to make pancakes? Endorses the use of this recipe? Forces you to? Of course not!
Blog articles are the opinions of the author. Not that of COH2.ORG. But members of our Staff have their own opinions, and they can talk about them if they wish. Or make blog articles about it if they wish. Although, I would have strapped a huge disclaimer at the start of this blog article, telling everyone that it does not reflect the views of our site. Alas, IpKai did not agree.
Personally, I disagree with his opinion. Relic is an entity, where within there are several groups, doing different things. The programmers, designers and artists who toil at the game for hours may very well want to see it rise to the challenge of Esports, but they do not decide. In fact, I do not know who does decide such things. Marketing? The CEO slash Studio Leader? Or somebody else?
Whoever it is; they are responsible for the competitive scene. But even they may not sit with all of the cards. Being in a company can be quite the headache. Even more so if your boss is incompetent, which may be the cause for Relic. Or it could just be inexperience. I do not know the Relicans, so I cannot tell.

So there was some discussion behind the scene, now there is a little bit of discussion here....probably no real harm done.
Thank you for the insight Yukiko.

Let's just say that Relic went to the garage and had the choice of a Merc or a Trabant. They opted for the Trabant.

I really enjoy your stream and imo its absolutely fine to promote your youtube channel etc.
But giving commanders you got from relic for the tournament away for youtube subscribers is not!
btt:
for the guys that say that relic has improved:
yes it has, more streams, cuddletronics being active in the bugsection, etc is a real improvement
on the other hand, the recent stream by kyle was very interesting to say the least. then the communication on the official forums (not that i care), the last patch, the absence of a warpoilsfix,... still a lot to improve

I agree with all the criticism btw, I just think it's better now than it's ever been.
