*Slight change of plan for Day 1. It will still be a group stage, but instead of Swiss scoring and a round robin format, it will be a more conventional single elimination consisting of just 2 rounds. Round 1 will be a best of 3 and round 2 will be a best of 5.

Okay I'm confused now. Single Elim in a group stage? How would that work out? Does that mean that if I lose the first series in my group that I'm out of it?

my guess is that it is the GSL (?) format:
4 players in a group, 2 matchups.
winners/losers of first matches play each other.
player with 2 wins advances, player with 2 losses is out.
other 2 guys play, winner is the 2nd player to advance.
just a guess though.

Yes. But as long as we seed decently then there's very little risk of an above-average player getting knocked out in round 1.
It's effectively just an extension of a larger single elim, but split into groups for flavour. Originally it was going to be the Swiss scoring system in a round robin style but there are just too many issues with it (atm).

Maybe try to separate the obvious good players into different groups, but it's not going to be perfect. Detailed seeding doesn't make sense. It's a new game!

Pripyat River for round 1 x_X. Couldn't we play on like... any other map? Even Minsk Pocket is an iffy map in my opinion... Granted I'm not in charge of the event but I'd like to think that most people think that Prip spring is like the worst map in the pool?
