Read above. It is part of their corporate culture. When I was there I brought up the CCP Games community as an example. :) We the community can work away at them bit by bit.

It's exactly their "corporate culture" that i am critical of and that i think Paradox is excellent at. It's a good thing that you and some others are trying to get them to open up bit it's sad that you need to "chip away at a mountain" to get the devs to interact with the community. I think the main reason this game isn't as big as it could have been is their reluctance to be open towards the community (to listen to criticism and to tell us what they are doing) and its so incredibly frustrating that relic doesn't seem to be aware of this.

Relic should play with the hand they are dealt when it comes to the community. They've got the community they've got as opposed to the one they'd like.

I'd argue it's a fifty-fifty. Internet gaming communities are inherently dominated by the whiny and entitled. They need managing.

The easiest way to manage them is to outnumber them with happy, on-side community members.

Catch 22.

Relic have created a classic Negative Feedback Loop. It doesn't matter how much we tell them how little they need to move to break it and make it a positive feedback loop, they just won't or can't listen.

I genuinely don't know why. This NDA bullshit is just that - bullshit. Where are the hordes of competitors salivating over the commercially sensitive issue of the next commander / skin / ToW?

LOL. Seriously. L.O.L.

There's actually a lot of WWII games copying features and ideas that Relic came up with. Even simply things such as names. NDA just means they can be the first to do something that they came up with because they're a company that tends to move slowly with getting things out there.

Genuinely not being awkward - who are they? There's MoW which is definitely marching to the beat of it's own drum.

There might be some minor F2P RTS's which aren't on the radar.

OK, DLC / pricing strategies need to be sensitive. I get that. But the extent of the current NDA?

Really?

Well MoW does take some things from other ideas but mostly don't do it. Wargame has pinched ideas in the past. And yes most others are F2P but by no means not on the radar or people wouldn't play them so much.

I don't disagree they're being too cautious with it. But I think you'll find that is they're reasoning behind it all.
