noun
noun: shill; plural noun: shills

1.
an accomplice of a confidence trickster or swindler who poses as a genuine customer to entice or encourage others.
"I used to be a shill in a Reno gambling club"

You aren't a shill by any fair definition of the word.

Let's try something else...

sycophant
ˈsɪkəfant/
noun
noun: sycophant; plural noun: sycophants

a person who acts obsequiously towards someone important in order to gain advantage.

I don't think this is particularly fair either.

Panglossian

adjective Pan·gloss·ian \pan-ˈglä-sē-ən, paŋ-, -ˈglȯ-\
Definition of PANGLOSSIAN
: marked by the view that all is for the best in this best of possible worlds : excessively optimistic

I think this one is on the money. Y'all take a panglossian view of Relic because they let you in their office.

^why?

you have no idea of their agenda. why do you go out of your way to talk out of your ass to insult baselessly?

i remember when ciez was optimistic about wfa and everybody jumped on him and ridiculed him. pathetic...

Why? Because this isn't news. The entire article contains utterly nothing of substance yet it's being presented as news. It isn't. Two community members go to Relic's office and tell us Stuff is Happening.

So?

I like Napalm and Dusty. I have nothing against them. But as a forum member I see no benefit in blowing smoke up arses for no reason.

When there's something to report you should report it. When there isn't, you shouldn't. Simple.

By doing so you simply look... *panglossian*

Edit - Please show me where the insult is. The criticism is mild, or does the moderation policy now extend to anything that doesn't constitute obsequious agreement?

you are implying that they are sycophant and have a paglossian view. if that is not insult, what is?

i see your point now that you said it. maybe you should have done that before calling others kissass.

I categorically said the first two were unfair. They were a riposte to the crazy guy in the previous rambling post.

Sorry if that caused some confusion.

And if accusing someone of excessive optimism is an insult... *shrugs*

My optimism is based on what I got to see and sample. It is also founded on some factual tid-bits such as the lack of mass lays off. If there hasn't been mass lay offs it means they are working on thing(s). What those something(s) are I can't tell you but I really don't think I need to. There has been enough leaks to give the community a decent idea where the title is headed. My hope (and it appears to have worked with some) is to spread a little of the optimism around these forums. I think we could all agree that they have been overly dark as of lately.

We the community aren't being ignored by Relic. Not in the least. Some of the things we got to see and sample can be directly traced back to some community demands. Where the community and Relic split apart is in transparency and priority. The employees we spoke to were super knowledgeable, they know EXACTLY whats up but they are unable to share that information with us due to the corporate culture. It doesn't help that that corporate culture is enshrined via the NDA and some nasty lawyers. Priority between what the community wants and where Relic is heading is the next great split. This is evident in the lack of a comprehensive balance patch.

I'm trying my best to serve both Relic and the community when I visit. Some of the clever community members have figured out what my threads(1,2) were truly about. In the latest visit I specifically mentioned that Relic should reevaluate its communication strategy with the community and to take serious caution on some of the items they were working on (face to face, no rage posting). Paid shill? Hardly. Constructive criticism? Absolutely. Why do I go through all this effort? I'm a gamer who likes playing CoH2. I'm also a clan leader and a "peoples" person. Meeting the brains...the people...behind Relic allows me to cure my insufferable amount of curiosity and to better serve my community and The Angry Bears. That is payment enough. Happy community members make my gaming experiencing so much better.

The promise of jam tomorrow. For what it's worth I believe that Relic are trying to improve the game. It is a lot better than it was in June 2013 but I think it will take another year or two to get to a really polished state.

Good things take time. One of the employees we spoke to (whom shall remain nameless) stated that they wish they had a time machine to go back in time and release the game they always had wanted to release. I'd say they are getting there.

That being said there is an element of hubris with some of the decisions they make. Relic make the cardinal business sin of falling in love with their product, thinking there is nothing wrong. To their credit they have been flexible to some degree in changing certain aspects after getting some critical feedback.

Some good examples would be the UI (green/red and loads more flashing lights), monthly releases of paid commanders and the WFA factions.

I wish relic would visit Paradox and learn from them how to talk to the community. Developer diaries, a big forum presence and huge patches (with complete patch notes).

No offense to Dusty and Napalm but this was a totally underwhelming and disappointing read.

Judging from Napalms recent threads, I call shenanigans, someone @ Relic is asking him to survey the Coh2.org community on some things whilst keeping some distance from it ;)

A bit odd and bs that Relic employees would have to take that route, but its better then nothing I suppose! :)

Edit: Oh, and can Napalm confirm he is not on the payroll or getting benefits from Relic, aside from the odd visit, cookies, coffee, beer and pizza! :p

I'm running those threads in order to help build some bridges and to create clarity where there is none. I wasn't asked to do so. Ammunition for my next visit maybe? :)

Read above. It is part of their corporate culture. When I was there I brought up the CCP Games community as an example. :) We the community can work away at them bit by bit.
