What's Next?

Relic typically plays their cards close to the chest, but there is reason to be excited! Relic is attending Gamescom Aug. 13-17 in Cologne, Germany. Attending such conventions is standard fare for promoting new developments. There will likely be an announcement regarding plans for the future of the franchise.

What Announcements Should We Expect?

The most likely announcement will be updates to the War Spoils, as Relic is very invested in this new system and it was initially met with quite a bit of criticism. Possible solutions have been proposed in the forums, and Relic has highlighted the things they have keyed in on. Coming up with a suitable solution to duplicate drops, the biggest criticism of the War Spoils system, will go a long way towards making it feel like a more complete content delivery system. There have been a number of ideas tossed around regarding how to give duplicate drops value, with suggestions ranging from a crafting system to allowing trading of war spoils items between players.

One thing is for sure: There is always more going on than we know about. While it's not clear exactly what Relic has been prioritizing in terms of content development, they have recently reached out to the community directly regarding balance feedback. This sort of collaboration is wonderful, and the community here at COH2.ORG has been quick to respond. Relic has cited Soviet weapon teams, the US Rifle Company, and long range combat as key points of interest.

While the Balance Front heats up, the Propaganda Front at Relic has stepped up its War Efforts to promote something new. Astute observers will have noticed that Relic has steadily created new systems and content to expand the game. The latest hint at something new was a cryptic promo image posted by Noun to the COH2.ORG Trending section.
