Contender Bout #4

Following the Fourth and final Quali Tourney last Sunday we're now ready for Contender Bout #4. After the turbulence of the Third Quali Tourney and the major upsets we witnessed, the final chance for qualification saw a return of the big guns. The fan favourite and COH legend Sepha GBGB advanced to Contender Bout #4, although his road was not smooth as both Maccaronni and Guderian forced him into a third game. His opponent this Sunday will be another fan favourite, the most featured player so far this season, DevM PTPT.

The winner of this Bout will be the final player to move on to the overall Final Four, set to compete again in the Semi-Finals in Week 9 against Aimstrong. The loser will simply have to enjoy the show like the rest of us and wait until COH2 to return to the big stage. After this final Contender Bout there will be no more qualifiers, no more waiting, no more potential upsets. We will progress into the Semi-Final stage and draw ever closer to the Championship Title Fight and the biggest prize in COH history!

The Fourth Quali Tourney was serious business from the start as all the players involved knew this was their last chance to demonstrate their skills and potentially become the Sunday Night Fights Champion. DevM again brushed off his opposition in record time, having his closest and longest match in the early rounds against Jeep. Following this drawn out slugging match DevM had obviously had enough and 2-0'd KoreanArmy in under 30minutes. Freestyler faced the same fate and got raced through in similar time after losing his first match to a 7-minute display of total early-game dominance.

Sepha on the other hand was involved in the closest match we've had so far in Season 4 of Sunday Night Fights, reducing Maccaronni to a mere 9 victory points before Maccaronni was able to stop the drain. The game continued from that point with Sepha desperately throwing men at the VPs to get them down and eventually losing 0-5 in VPs. One might think that this would demoralise a player, but then they'd obviously never faced Sepha before; he came out in the second game relaxed and so confident that he V1'd his own Panthers halfway through the game. In the live show, Sepha took on the old school player Guderian on Angoville and both players handily took their U.S. games with minimal fuss. Guderian had choice of faction in the ace game and naturally selected U.S. as it had dominated both of the first two games in the Best-of-3. Sepha did what comes naturally to him though and played an incredibly solid Wehrmacht game with a smooth Tier Two to Tier Three strategy. He left Guderian no room to breath and eventually secured his spot in Contender Bout #4. All the replays from the Fourth Quali Tourney are available on COH2.ORG forums for your viewing pleasure!

Episode Eight of Sunday Night Fights will be hosted by the Berlin Boss AmiPolizeiFunk and his Californian Co-host Yoink. This week they will be joined by Fir3ball, who has already qualified for the Final Four of this season of Sunday Night Fights. Fir3ball will be providing insight and expert knowledge to the casts. He will be watching the players closely as one of them may be his opponent for the Championship at the end of the month.

Sepha is a COH legend, a top tier player and strategist since the COH Beta, the inventor of rifle spam, the big dog. However, he faces the fearsome DevM, widely regarded as having the best early-game in the world. DevM has crashed through big names in style but has struggled in the casted matches. Both of these players could be expected to be in the Contender Bouts, both could be expected to be fighting for the Heavyweight Championship, but only one will progress. There is no reason to hold back anything anymore, this is it: you win and you keep your hopes alive, you lose and you're relegated to spectating on the sidelines.

Will the mild-mannered Sepha be able to secure his position as the greatest COH player there ever was? Can he really win tournaments in the first year of COH release and in its sixth? Can he possibly hold off the early-game of DevM? Will the devestating DevM waltz easily through a titan like Sepha or will he wilt again under the spotlight? Tune in to the SundayNightFights channel 8PM GMT Sunday 6th January to find out!
