Scorched Earth
This weekend we will see thirty-two qualifying players engage in eight round robins. The winner of each of the eight groups will advance to the second round, the remaining twenty-four players left behind. These top eight will be thrown back into the meat grinder of another set of round robins.
Next weekend, the 23rd of January, we’ll be in media res with the remaining players already one match played of three. Times will have changed and the comfortable summer maps we’re all used to will turn into icy fields of death and destruction. Faymonville, Crossroads, and Bayeux have been transformed into icy hell. In addition, the player will be in commander terminator mode, meaning that commander can be used only once for the remainder of the tournament. We’re going to see some difficult choices and some sacrifices.
This Saturday, at 14:00 UTC on the 16th of January, we will watch thirty-two contestants take their first steps in Master League 4: Scorched Earth. Ultimately, they will be competing for the first-place prize of $1500 USD, bragging rights, and ML Points. Be sure to tune in to the Master League livestream to catch the action.

Thank You
As always, the Master League would be impossible without support from the community. Mapmakers have stepped up and edited existing maps for the winter theme, Miragefla has combined version 1.5 of the current preview patch with the tourney mode mod — ensuring that we have games at both a competitive level and at the cutting edge of balance.
Of course, the Master League has over 100 patrons contributing to the prize pool, a cadre that keeps this series not only functioning, but growing!
A special shoutout to the Referees that keep things running behind the scenes!
And, finally, of course, the community of casters that bring all of us these games. They’re going to be working overtime on this first weekend as there are so many matches to watch!
About the Company of Heroes Master League
The Company of Heroes Master League is a community-driven project that showcases CoH’s competitive scene. It features tournaments every two months and is broadcast live on Twitch. The prize pool is funded by members of the community chipping in small dollar amounts every month. By becoming a Patron, anyone can have the chance to vote on a variety of things that affect future tournaments and events via the exclusive Discord channel that brings together fans, players, and the organizers. In addition to the regular tournaments, the Master League is a living history of Company of Heroes. Detailed statistics of past tournaments are documented and results from the twenty most recent events are used to seed players in upcoming tournaments. This is to ensure that the Master League stays as competitive as possible while providing an archive of past achievements. The best part about this is that the data is free to access and available to the public! Check it out in the Master League spreadsheet.
