About The OKW Halftrack don't think its been mentioned yet, on the new winter map for 1v1 (not sure about the name) OKW can salvage all the fuel early game and get a crazy fast halftrack.
I got mine at like 2:45 if im not mistaken it was the second unit built, built 1 volks plus the starting sturmpios, upgrade the supply truck and instant halftrack.
don't know if this will be fixed soon or if its intended. |
This match is in langres, i started tier 1 conscript scout car to counter the supply truck crushing infantry
then 2 penals with flamers and 1 more conscript got tier 4 Su-76 and Su-85 with the doube t-34/85 call in got 2 guards and the 120-mm mortar and it was all about button the tanks flank, kill and repeat, later i got the katyucha or whatever its spelled like.
Its a bit of a long match hope you enjoy |
Hi all in this game soviet went for typical tier 1 tier 2 into call in mode using advanced warfare
I felt dominant trough out most of the match so I decided to go skip tier 3 and go tier 4
My standard opening is 3 gren, mg into tier 2 and react to opponents buid
Forgive my poor tank micro bless those tellers and enjoy the game |
Well this is an awesome game on crossing the woods i play as soviet and I get to field 2 IS-2 vetting one to vet3
Considering that I haven't played coh2 since march5th (moved to new country only got a pc 3 days ago) after many defeats as expected I finally got a worthy game that I want to share
Hope you enjoy |
Well when I encounter the maxim spam style, by this I mean instant tier 2 with 1 or no conscript into 3 to 4 maxims I like to rush for scout car because it comes earlier then the FHT.
The scout car at close range can take out those maxim crews fast and with the turret you can runs circles around them plus its expendable losing it doesn't have the same impact as losing a FHT.
Again this is only reliable if there is no form of AT on the field, if no conscripts are spotted or if you see 1 conscript squad using molotv and maxim spam, no way soviet can have fuel for at nade or mp for a field gun any time soon, that's your scout car window, try to use it on isolated squads, most of the times the soviets spread the maxim to hold more ground, but if the army is all together just cap around the map.
From there if you are expecting early T-70 or T-34 get pgrens with shreks and a pack or against shock troops I find that snipers work well in supporting pgrens, sure you have to be careful if the shocks go after your sniper, but with pgrens chasing and not taking fire and sniper getting at least 2 shots of before having to retreat suddenly the shocks are not that much of a threat |
Well I have also struggled a lot with mg42 into fast FHT.
I started going 3 cons tier2 instant field gun, no molotv or at nade and using my early munitions on arty ability to clear or force retreat the mg42.
I then get a maxim and the at\molotov upgrades this way you have early AT without having to rely on guards, you can go shocks to fight pgs or just get more cons with ppsh.
If you like you can also rush for t\70 instead of getting the cons upgrades but I feel its always better to get those to protect the field gun's flanks and you will need the upgrades in the late game specially the at nades |
My Tier 2 (Support Weapons) opening
3 cons, molotv, tier 2, at nade when possible, maxim, AT gun, mortar, tier 3, t-34\76, half-track.
Another opening, different order of units but with the t-70 potential if you rush tier 3.
3 cons, tier 2, AT gun use barrage to decrew\force retreat mg42, get maxim, mortar, moltv and at nade upgrade or just rush for tier 3, t-34\76 or t-70 if you did rush tier3, half-track.
No matter what opening, if I see a lot of infantry spam i will consider adding more maxims, if i see lots of armor add more AT-guns
Commanders (names may not be accurate) for Tier 2
Front-line Shock - shock troops, kv-8, IS-2, off-map fire artillery etc
New commander Advanced warfare- ppsh, Single T34\85, Single air strafe etc
The ISU-152 commander I only use for team games thinking of changing it for guards combined arms
The openings will suffer changes depending on what commander Im using, for front-line get 1 or 2 shock troops, after tier 3 go for IS-2 or Kv-8.
for advanced warfare get 1 or 2 more cons and upgrade all cons with ppsh and call in t-34\85 when possible and use the air strafe wisely.
If i do change for guards combined i will get 1 or 2 guards and get ppsh on cons
Be versatile use a strategie that can answer any threat, the units i put are what i believe to be the core of a tier 2 opening, at least 1 of each mortar, maxim, AT-gun (When I say AT-gun i mean the Zis or whatever its called) |
This is my Tier 1 (Special Rifle Command) opening
No matter what opening i always get 3 conscripts for capping power otherwise
you may get base pinned
After 3 cons I get molotv, tier 1, scout car, at nade when possible, penal battalion,
sniper, then 2 guards if using a guards commander and the 120mm mortar if using that commander or more conscripts for ppsh.
Later tier 4 either SU-76 or SU-85 depending on what you need.
The sniper comes as a counter to pgrens or even assault grens or simply bleeds
manpower.
Minesweeper on engineer and penal with flamer on scout car since german mine
play is now more viable, unless you prefer to get a second engineer with
minesweeper.Play around with the order of units see what works best for you
Commanders (names may not be accurate) for Tier 1:
Guards motor coordenation: guards, 120mm mortar, 2 t34\85 call in etc
Guards combined arms: Guards, ppsh, Hit the dirt, Howitzer etc
New Commander, Advanced Warfare: radio intercept, ppsh, sinlge T34\85 call in
and single air strafe
