Thread: State of OKW in the meta 5 Aug 2020, 06:56 AM Jump back to quoted post5 Aug 2020, 02:20 AMRIZAs uhh yeah here's the magic list on manpower comparison in allies unit from 260 manpower volks point of view IS = 270 manpower for something that will absolutely dominate your infantry but without snare Rifleman = 280 manpower for something that will always outgun your unit on every stage of the game Conscript = 240 manpower for something similar but 6 dudes but without vanilla firepower upgrade need cover to be effective and slightly less long-range DPS and butch of utility and mine. yes because why not Well fan fact is, Rifles wont outgun you always, actually you can outgun them at long range and in green cover. They will outgun you at medium and close range. IS being 10 MP more, is pretty much like compering vetted obersts vs conscripts, when it comes to their firefights. But again, its more of UKF balance problem, not OKW problem. Ostheer is not beeing faceroled by UKF exclusively because they have early snare\mg\sniper. Pretty much all the sings UKF dont have hard answer to early on. USF match up can be oppresive yes, but not totaly one sided. But on the offtopic, I still dont undertand why balance team desided to boost tommies in such way, considering they are not USF and they have access to 2 (+1 with commander) additional units early on, besides tommies. I'm pretty sure it's downright impossible to achieve any sort of balance considering all modes. I disagree tbh. Aside from 4v4 all gamemodes, have a share of 1v1ining in them, with the difference being that it happens in a smaller location, not across the whole map. In 1v1 some problems are move visible, some less. In regards to OKW, it suffers from the same problems in teamgames it sufferes in 1v1. Main problems of OKW as I see them: 1) Volks vs IS match up. Against rifles\cons, depending on the situation you have ways to win 1v1 firefight, against IS you dont. Against UKF you only can buy time as OKW, because they will outshoot you all the time, as long as they are in any cover. Forcing you to bleed, or spend on muni on nades. Pottentually Kubelwagen can stop the bleed, but brencarrier will hardcounter it aswell as green cover IS. 2) Abusable vunerablity to light vehicles and teamweapons untill tech. Any early light vehicles can roll over OKW as long as it dont jump into close distance or OKW didnt go for fusiliers. Locked snare is effectively leaves you with your pants down. For first 4-5 mins. Raketen is not an option early on because: a) Soviet M3 comes with penals which will outshoot your volks b) Rifles will outnumber your if you get to counter jeep c) IS always winning early on So spending this early MP into raketen will snowball into much bigger problems. 3) Trade off tech system which leaves you without essential game options. You go mech you dont have healing and forced to bleed muni, you go battlegroup you have no LVs and only raketen to counter allies LVs. Problem with OKW is that ones you face an opponent who knows its weaknesses and knows how to abuse them, its a puse massohism playing as them. In: COH2 Balance

It's a separate fucking issue. If you want to talk about it this much, make a thread. Jesus Christ It WONT be looked at, because balance team already said they wont be touching mainline inf and even if they do, they wont\cant change situation around blobing. Dont bring ideas out of the box and start aurguing on something, which is completly dependant on a different factors of how faction works. On this I'il stop discussing this. In: COH2 Balance

When you've been pointed that considering overall balance of the faction USF dont need caliope as a stock unit, you started arguing that USF need caliope to punish blobs and why not, otherwise they rely on their blob. Even weaker caliope as stock will buff USF already very powerfull AI to be even more, leading that ppl will get caliope clear path for their blob and blobing will become even worst. At least both USF\UKF are limited to commanders, if they want to get some sort of the nuking units. In: COH2 Balance

My point is, aside from arty or AI tanks, you cant stop this horde by inf. And USF\UKF horde can stop equal axis horde, thats why axis rely on rocket arty. Same way Soviets rely on rocket arty if they dont pick doctrine which upps their cons. I'm aware of what they do and do not have, you don't need to explain the basic equipment of every unit... They are stong, but not unstoppable by other mainline inf. One of them does it MUCH better than all the others, it's called the mg42 Arguably. 50 cal. is just as good at suppresing and pinning, vet 1 vekers in garrison can focus blobs from a safe distance. That's not good design at all If you give rocket arty as stock, it wont change anything. USF\UKF will still blob. Did they get deleted from the game? Blobing Obers? This OKW probably in forbes top 10. And penals dont scale that good into mid\late game, they also dont have smoke\nades and snares if they dont have PTRS and if they do, their AI is non-problematic is not that good. It's easily the best at countering....blobs HMGs are somewhat soft-counter to blobs, because while you can force them to retreat, you wont bleed their MP, they will just comeback, also considering USF\UKF have forward retreat points, its debatable. If we can't fix blobbing the solution is stock rocket arty My point was that, that upped USF\UKF blobs are by far the strongest compare to grens\volks blobs. You can counter them by blob of yourself, while Sov\Ost\OKW cant counter western allies blobs by their blobs, thats why they have stock rocket arty. At least its my opinion. In: COH2 Balance

Jump back to quoted post2 Aug 2020, 16:41 PMthedarkarmadillo grens were not left in the dust against other factions, grens were never meant to stand quad for squad against other allied infantry. this is reflected in their cost. and do keep in mind as well, while allied squads cost more and do beat them, they also have additional costs ONTOP of being more expensive. True but you also shoudnt forget that only allies have access to light vehicles at the start of the game. And this is a huge factor aswell, that the sole reason why OKW suffers THAT bad right now from them because they dont have access to snare, aside from fusiliers, untill tech. Allies have to pay\ern it sure, but also allies dont face vehicles strate of the bat. And you dont need snares to counter kubel. USF\UKF have to pay for the nades, sure. But trade off for that is that your mainline inf is supperior in raw firepower, while Grens need their rifle nades to either fight supperior inf or 6 men support crews. But anyway they are still locked behind BP1. In general upgrading grens is not something "optional" which changes their play, its the only way to make them stand a chance. Soviet yes, but soviet were made to play with call-in inf, now they have penals\call-in\7-men squads. 7-men sqauds are here to make cons scale into late game. By the time grens get LMGs you would have elite inf to fight them, early on grens vs cons play is balanced. In: COH2 Balance
